Unique items

Does anyone know the use of unique parametre in item editor?
if i set an item to unique, can it be available for sell in towns?

An item with itp_unique cannot be looted via the normal post-battle loot screen.

If you leave off the merchandise flag it shouldn't be sold anywhere.
