Unique Horses

Currently, all the horses are straight clones of each other. I think that they should be more individual:

A horse will have four stats, health, speed, manuver and charge. A horse will have a random combination of these stats so that each horse will be unique. For example, high speed and poor manuver could be good for jousting, while good health and charge would make a good scrapper. The appearence would also be random, such as black, white, grey, light brown etc.
You can also name your horse and buy armour for it.

What do you think?

horses should upgrade too.lame chargers should improve to charger, coursers should improve spirited or heavy courser...

Good idea. Different types of horses like hunter, charger etc. will stay right?. Otherwise you can not name and differentiate them. And stats should not be completely random. Variance must be around a certain point. Each horse type would be randomized within certain limits. So that the fastest sumpter horse will still be slower than the slowest of the coursers.

Yes totally agree and I've made posts along similar lines before.

Horse stats should have a random element.

Certain stats should remain unknown unless your character has a necessary level of riding skill. Anyone can tell the difference between a nag and a warhorse. But it takes skill to know a spirited or character* warhorse from an inexperienced or tempremental one.
It should be possible to train horses, either using one's own skill or by taking the horse to a trainer.

Agree about buying equipment for horses. Varying qualities should exist, better saddle, tack, spurs should improve your control: http://forums.taleworlds.com/viewtopic.php?t=3709&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Once in a blue moon in the game you should encounter a character horse (after completing a quest or vanquishing a particularly hard foe etc). This is an exceptional beast; faster, stronger and brighter than average. I'm talking about a M&B Shadowfax. Easy to control, resiliant etc you get the picture.

Names for horses - definately.

Random colours etc - good idea.

There's definately room for a lot more depth and variety when it comes to horses in the game. I hope future versions work on this.

Thanks, GonZ, I did try a search but there were just too many threads with the word "horse" in.

barbaros: In M&B a sumpter horse has low stats, a low riding skill, is cheap and is dark brown. ALL sumpter horses in the land are exactly the same. Why should all dark brown horses be slow and weak while all white horses are fast and strong. It doesn't make sense.

sharp_spike: I agree, if you ride safely and keep your horse fit and healthy it should improve over time. However, if you ride foolishly and your horse falls in battle often it should become weaker and less effective. This will provide an incentive to protect and care for your horse instead of buying a new one and eating the old one for dinner.

read all the actie posts before you post a new one... i don`t see much NEW suggestions here... thanks for crowding the forums...

But, but... Gandalf was the only person who could ride Shadowfax after he borrowed the horse from Rohan for the first time.

And yes, names would definately own. I'm also tired of seeing chargers who can't run for beans, I need a courser in chainmail over here, please. Named Bobby. Ah, yes. I can see it now.
Couched Lance Damage!
Delivered 150 damage.
Woot.
Bobby received 87 damage.
Bobby is crippled...
Wait, what?! No! That wasn't supposed to happen...!

EDIT: J.A.R.S., you're just jealous because your dad whipped you when you were eight and now you don't have any dreams for life. Just kidding.
Hopefully I didn't revoke any childhood memories.

that would be Evoke or ENvoke, depending on what you wanted to say.
But not REvoke.

And J.A.R.S.... do you have any idea how many HUNDREDs of threads of suggestions this guy would have had to read to find a suggestion like his? Especially considering the variables he wants? In fact, I'm not *certain* that one has ever been made, and I've got a couple months on you. You can't ask new guys to read through literally THOUSANDS of posts before they speak up, no more than you or I do ourselves. Go fly a kite, and learn common courtesy.

Uh, I disagree. Some horses born as warhorse. They are especially large, strong and moderatly fast. Some are meant to be your everyday horse you ride with, some are made for speed and are terribly fast. Seeing a courser becoming a charger would make as much sense as seeing a dwarf becoming an elf because he leveled up.

Thanks for that. Revoke seemed to make sense, but oh well.

You're right about the upgrading thing, pretty much everyone/thing is born into a job from childhood those days. You don't like it, tough cookies. A better comparison that suits M&B would be an infantryman trying to become a cavalry archer in a day... but that works too, I guess.

EDIT: By the way, I don't know about storebought lame horses, but if your horse is crippled in battle, it will heal over time if you don't use it.

I think you might have read the post wrong, he/she never said that a courser should become a charger, only that a standard courser should improve to a spirited or heavy courser.

literally... the post HORSES was about 3 posts down from where he posted his... it was called HORSES and was talking just about that, has abotu 5 pages of suggestions in it... was it necessary to add a new one when it is still on the first EARLY page, a pretty active topic like that?...

Actually its got about 1 page of suggestions in it... the rest is full of mindless nonsense. Just like the rest of the suggestions forum 20% decent, constructive ideas, 80% post whore meaningless nonsense.

Yes I'm grumpy - I've got toothache.

The "HORSES" thread is so off-topic that posting any ideas there would be piontless. Last time I checked they were having an argument about steel manufacturing. Don't get grumpy just because you started a thread that is now full of random babbleing.
