Unify the Empire - what is supposed to happen?

I just completed the "Unify the Empire" main quest as a vassal of the Northern Empire. What is supposed to happen gameplay wise? I don't see any "unification" in the sense that the other empires still exist and Southern Empire is even at war with us.

I believe it is control 2/3 of Imperial settlements (cities) for it to count as complete.

Your imperial faction would control enough of the empire to morally claim victory.

I believe if you have given Lucon or his successor the dragon banner it would award you the imperial campaign victory achievement

So that's it, there is no gameplay change or reward?!? The least I'd expect would be for the other kingdoms to be absorbed into the Northern Empire.

I'm not exactly sure, as it has been more than a year since I completed the campaign, but I vaguely remember all remaining imperial fiefs becoming part of my (imperial) kingdom after I managed to complete the quest and got a victory message pop up (I did this with my own created imperial kingdom, which may have resulted in a different result than doing it as part of an existing kingdom).

The quest was also extremely buggy (maybe still is, idk) and didn't even recognise kingdoms as being destroyed half the time, so there's also that possibility. Did you get a cutscene similar to the intro cutscene after completing the quest or did it bug out?

lol what's the point to give Lucon the banner? just to unlock a Steam Achievement?

I would join NE and wait for Lucon dead, then steal his North empire......... hahahahha
