A bit too late to start testing a faction to be implemented into a tournament that has already started don't yah think?
 
Personally, I'd rather this stay a 1.153 tourney.  I haven't followed the new patch's development for the last couple months, but I've been told that it contains some substantial changes.  I think it's kind of a stretch to expect teams to rapidly adopt these patch changes within the week between Round 1 and Round 2.

After seeing the actual changes (posted below by Cradoc), these actually seem pretty beneficial.

On the other hand, I think its a stretch to force players to play an outdated version just for a tournament.

You can have both versions installed on your computer, so this doesn't really matter.
 
Given that everyone would be adapting to any changes at the same time, we would all be on a level playing field in that respect.
 
-Regular Spears will stop horses
-Atheletics for rangers down -1
-Athletics for infantry up +1
-Changed netcode to fix a bug where animations would sometimes fail to load.
-Rebalanced Khergit multiplayer troops and added 'Khergit Infantry' class.
-Adjusted price of certain items in multiplayer based on faction (certain items now cost different amounts of gold depending on faction).
-Rebalanced several items to create proper price/quality progression balance in multiplayer.
-Adjusted the way attack cancelling is handled while jumping. (most notably is jump reloading for Xbows)
-Fixed a visual error with attacks that are cancelled mid air.
-Fixed animation error with pikes.
-Adjusted the way attack cancelling is handled while jumping.
-turn speed being nerfed reverted

Can't find anything else. As for updating? I'm all for it.

Disagree. The changes are good and promotes a fresh look to a stale and boring meta. I'd like to embrace it.

Netcode being optimized is a good thing, I've had the animations not loading problem for a while.
 
I too agree. Most of the tournament is new to pretty much everyone as it is; 1200g, first to 4 with sets, map pools, etc. I think the match will be equally new to all teams and its changes will good overall.

Yeah I'm hoping this fixes the high ping animations that get sped up or just don't play until they finish/hit.
Not to mention most of those changes are really good.
 
A good point. Just watched the stream, read up on the rules, and noticed this is as clear as it gets:

But you can choose from the same category. We noticed that disallowing the choosing of the same category isn't effective with only two categories. Thus, the only thing you can't do is choose the same map twice.

... so this week could of consisted of Sandi'boush AND Vandetta for a match? ...Interesting. Why are we doing fixtures again? lol It seems that more or less defeats the whole purpose now.
 
The whole purpose of the map pool idea was to keep the teams from choosing 2 closed maps or 2 open maps in the same match and so if it came to a tie breaker you would get 1 closed, 1 open, 1 mixed and get a really good idea of which team is better at the categories overall

At least that's what I thought

Yeah, I'm not exactly understanding the point of pooling maps into categories anymore if you can just pick whatever the hell you want. I thought the whole purpose of doing this was forcing variety -- although I use that term loosely given what we have to pick from -- into a match.
 
As a streamer, I have no way to know when matches are going to be played other than talking to all the teams individually. If you could get some kind of schedule up it would help me immensely and MB_tv might be able to get some UNAC action going (which we'd love to do).

By the defending team... i.e. the defending team can pick a closed map for the first one and the attacking team can pick another closed map for the second one.
