I wasn't really planning on releasing said information until later with season 2 not being over yet, but because the cats out of the bag: I will not be admining Season 3. Once season 2 is over I'll be leaving the Warband community for good, so I won't really be around to help out with UNAC 3. Calamity is equally busy these days and has said he will also not be available to admin in any capacity season 3.

Its been a fun ride, but I've had my fun with this game and its time for me to move on. I'll still be admining the rest of  Season 2 and finishing up all the threads. Even afterwards i'll still be able to be found on steam ("Kherven') and POM teamspeak but my Warband days will be over.  Good luck.

Oh, sorry. I guess I jumped the gun a bit.

Just wanted to inform everybody that my power is out, so I have to check my PMs on my phone and probably won't reply to them until I have a computer with power. Hopefully, that will be tomorrow.

I think if the same number of teams are around for the next tournament, it would be better for everyone, just too include everyone. In the case of HB, we were the only team that was "unranked", so I guess it hurts us most. But really, with such small brackets, this season was somewhat lame, and uninspiring.

Also, the other issue with the bracket system is that its unlikely that teams like Bks or a Euro team will enter, knowing they would be placed in DIV B. People still have ego's and realistically a good Euro team or even BKs (should they come back) shouldn't be in a Div B clan. Heck, GK's performance went against their expectation for div B as well, as did others. While most predictions for matches were consistent, things can change rapidly.

Let's just let everyone play everyone, if the time ever comes where we have 20 reliable teams, then Divisions are a very realistic/understandable option.

At this time (and even if it gets slightly better in terms of teams signing up), we (the warband players of NA) are in no position to be dividing. We recognize team rosters for the most part, and individuals skills, how many games can say that?

I understand time was an issue in other tourneys, but this tournament was not very fun honestly, and I'd rather have a longer, more fun tournament.

On the opposite side, speaking as a member of HB, perhaps it would be better to keep brackets. Based off of what went on this season, Wk fairly easily took Div A, as did HB in Div B.... I would guess this would make next season more competitive with the changes, However--- as mentioned, it really is a system that does not encourage new teams to enter, because honestly, nobody wants to enter DIV B, especially if they think they are deserving of higher. Sure, HB felt the same way, and entered Div B anyway, but it wasn't a clear or easy decision.

In the end I look at it this way --- If we keep the Divisions, the next tourney will likely be more fun and competitive--thats the positive, the negative is any further tourney's (including the next one) will consist of no new teams (possibly some teams dropping out), and considering what little we have to work with, it seems faulty to use this type of system.

These views are personal, and do not necessarily reflect the views of other HB members

I would have to disagree on the keeping divisions would be more fun and competitive. I personally like a tough challenge like facing HB or Wk because that makes you stronger and on your seat hoping that there might be a chance your team will win. And when the Unac Season is so short it doesn't excite you at ALL....

The problem with that, Rhadagast, is that a 16-0 blowout isn't fun for either team and doesn't really help you get better. The more competitive matches you guys have had in Div. B will be better preparation.

That being said, I also don't think being in Div. B is some kind of deterrent to participation. If I was on a developing team, I'd rather fight teams that I was competitive with than sit in dead chat watching my team get hosed every match.

Either way, it's obvious that the bracket system didn't work as well as hoped and it will need some revision prior to the next season. I also miss playing a variety of teams and would appreciate the opportunity to play against some of the Div. B'ers

I guess we would have to address the issue of teams from UNAC 1 that wasn't in UNAC 2 joining 3, teams like BkS, GA, and SF. Would they get to compete in Div A or would they have to start over and be forced into B? They definitely would not join if they're forced into B. As for SF, maybe they should be in B since they backed out at the last minute.

This season was uninteresting compared to UNAC 1 because most of Div A teams this season lost a lot of their competitive strengths, and thus, not providing enough challenge for a powerhouse team like wK. Also, there wasn't much PR stuff on the forums to keep things exciting...PR stuff like updated power rankings, predictions, prizes...things that were more prevalent in UNAC 1. I really have to give credit to Rhade for playing an important part in keeping UNAC 1 interesting, even to the end, with his forum participation. This season was missing a lot of that, plus relatively dull matches for strong teams like wK and HB.

As mentioned already, we should determine the number of teams participating before we decide on other things since that plays a big role in decision makings. We probably should have team sign-ups completed before starting captain meetings.

Did this occur to anyone before Season 2 started?

Well I think it's been clear for some time that Season 2 was planned poorly, even clearer now in hindsight.

The problem with making a perfect plan is that it isn't possible. There are variables that are beyond control. Season 2 was planned with at least 10 teams in mind because there were 12 that said they were interested. When the last week you have 2 teams not sign up and 1 team quit after the tournament has started, its hard for things to go smoothly. The only thing Season 2 did wrong was to expect that teams who signed up for season 2 were going to play in season 2. Clearly, Season 3 won't be able to assume even that.

We probably should have team sign-ups completed before starting captain meetings.

A good concept on paper, unenforceable in reality. Admins cannot stop teams from dropping out, even if said teams said 100% sure they would play. The only way this would be enforceable is to have collateral such as security deposits, and nobody wants have money held hostage to play a video game.

Even so, in a tournament where every minute change requires a council approval, and every concept is patched in or thrown out by popular opinion, its hard to have a fool-proof plan.

Perhaps since we already have the basic's down that everyone can agree with (server settings, etc), maybe we could go back to the older style of just letting the tournament admins making all the detail decisions, and everyone just agree to follow that.

I know a lot of people probably won't like this idea, but we've tried the whole "democracy" thing twice now, and it didn't quite work out either time.  Arguably UNAC 1 was a lot better then UNAC 2, it just took to long.

Well that's my suggestion anyway.
