Unable to modify City/Village names in parties.txt

Using Morgh's modding tool, I've modded companions, lord's names, item stats and faction names. The only thing that 'doesn't' work is the parties.txt (village/city names). I've changed the parties.txt for Native, and it worked fine. But Silverstag's parties.txt won't recognize the changes. I'm not using any Unicode characters as I've seen first hand that doesn't go well. If anyone has any advice or a solution, please share.

This is probably due to the fact that Silverstag allows you to change the default names of towns/castles/settlements that you control through thein game 'Gather Information & Recruitment' menu, Morgh's tools might not work because of this as the tools are aimed at Native and not tailored to any specific mods.

The only way I imagine you will be able to do this is by changing the names of the settlements in the python files for Silverstag (they're included in the download) and then building the module once you've edited the relevant .py files.

Have you tried starting a new game just in case? Some changes require this.
EDIT: Renaming in .py, compiling and starting a new game does not work.

SOMETHING is stopping the change from going through. This works with all other mods. It might have something to do with the WSELoader but I've got ****all of a clue on how to twiddle with **** like that.

I have tried that. And well this is unfortunate. I spent a good 2 hours renaming cities and towns to be culturally accurate.

Did you try it Leifdin? there must be something else you have to change too than just renaming the settlement in the .py files as like I said you can re-name the settlement. There will be some way to do it with the python files settlement names aren't hard coded, silverstag's module files are considerably different from natives and it's really not a good idea using morgh's tools to edit them as it can cause errors.

I doubt it's anything to do with the WSE loader.

You can't rename the locations outside of the game (the normal way) in Silverstag because of its feature allowing you to rename them inside of the game.  Every time you load a save game the locations are all set to the names you've chosen beforehand.  You just need to rename the string files where the town names are found in strings.txt.

Look for "str_hub_town_1" in strings.txt and that will bring you to the top of the list.  An entry for Praven would look like "str_hub_town_6 Praven".  You just need to change the second word ("Praven") to whatever you want it to be renamed and then reloading the game should implement the changes.

It worked! thanks mate. And thanks Leifdin and KidKaola for giving me the time of day to try and help  I shall now be content with my culturally accurate city/village names.
