Um..the so called "Road Map" doesn't actually mention any new content....

There is more innovation and creativity shown in the vivid excuses that are being made for Taleworlds in this thread than there is in the game.

I have to say I don't think Warband is a functional comparison as it is an enhanced remake, I think OG M&B is a more fair comparison.
Bannerlord is Mount and blade 2, not 3. Warband is not mount and blade 1 or 2. Warband is the accumulation of years of refinement and player feedback and modding taken in and produced into a enhanced re-make or re-release.
M&B's content is pretty close to the bare bones initial EA release of BL if we ignore the unfinished stuff. You can join a faction and help them win the world.
You could do that since day 1 of EA and that's M&B in a nutshell.

I have probably 100 things I want changed and then another 100 I would love added.
If a few of these happen I'll be pretty happy. A big one just happened with the sandbox kingdom addition.
Now my main wants are better Surgery and trainer type skills and improvements to the skill/perk system in general and better more effective armor.
After that it's baby stuff and other long term game events such as new lord generation and faction rebellions and other stuff for the loooooong game.

It's easy to complain that a game didn't do everything you wanted, but that's almost all games always.
Everyday for years I wished somebody would make another game like Mount and blade, but they just don't.
If somebody out there can make the perfect M and Blade like game, please do it.

Yeah but I don't feel like I'm or the people who share my opinion are asking for the perfect MB game, just asking for a game with interesting features complex and deep gameplay, and of course, immersion. Maybe something that took into account what made the mods for warband so popular and kept that game alive for a decade.

Many of us just had higher expectations. And since the game is in EA voicing that disappointment and concern on the forums is the only recourse to remedy our issue.

A "main story" questline is present in the game, but you cannot complete it because, lo and behold, it is construed of incomplete and missing content - like many of the features currently present in the game. Adding what is missing is, at the end of the day, adding new content. Expanding and fleshing out what exists is, guess what? Oh yeah, new content. You're coming off as someone who can't grasp the definition of "content" - so if you're going to troll, try harder. It's a tad low quality right now.

Dig through the game files yourself; there is no conspiracy here. You're acting as if the planned content additions are already in the game, merely disabled to give the impression they're doing something.

A real point of discourse would be the lack of (new) major feature announcements - but in fairness it's probably too early to discuss such. The game is objectively unfinished and incredibly rough around the edges, and we've barely had communication from TW regarding planned fixes, let alone bigger stuff down the pipeline.

Actually, there is a lot of greyed out code which isn't active that indicates unfinished stuff that's already in the game - for example the Horse Breeder workshop. There is actually a ton of greyed out code, so its funny you mentioned it.

But i'm not alleging a conspiracy. I'm just discussing my disappointment with the game's lack of features and apparent lack of planned features.

That's kinda like demanding an anime studio to add more pornographic content to the TV series because of the popularity of the characters in hentai doujins.
Wow what a relatable comparison that everyone and not just me can understand!

I don't know that @Depressinho was necessarily talking about people in this thread, but we have had a fair share of people being, let's say... a little overly aggressive? in giving their (legitimate) bad feedback about the game. And some people who really liked Bannerlord have been a little too zealous with defending what they perceived as an aggression to the game, which tends to start flame wars. Luckily it seems to have gotten better recently.

Not all people who are currently not currently playing necessarily feel that bad about Bannerlord. I put 150 something hours in it, which is more than I put in most games I own, I am definitely done for right now. But overall the game does not look terrible to me even in its current state. It needs a lot of work, sure, but I still enjoyed it more than the majority of other games I own.
True. I guess i don't see too many aggressive threads other than one to two people demanding a refund. I will agree the game doesn't look or feel terrible. I did enjoy it my first two play-through (both crashed with updates), but it lacks the content to go beyond what i find playable with enjoyment because it feels i can only rule one way and own land and title is limited.

Sure. But I get the feeling people like you (and me and many others) may be sitting out for a long time based on their "priorities" statement. The "priorities" statement is just fixes and balancing, nothing really exciting or new. We may be sitting for years waiting for total overhaul mods. I guess that's an outcome, but it just seems kinda sad after all this time.
yeah again you and i feel the same way. We love M&B and i think we envisioned a lot deeper with EA. I was hoping for a AD1257 mixed with viking conquest level of content. I wish they would just hand over the modding now.

I try to avoid thread wars but i did laugh to this. +1!

I still don't get why didn't they just remaster warband and put new graphics/fix bugs. Instead of making a new game that at this point in time has less features then warband and when EA is over its probably just going to be normal warband with better graphics. I guess they will get more money from a new game then a remaster.

I think it is healthy for the game what people are doing on these forums. We expected a better M&B: Warband not a better M&B. I paid $10 for M&B. I paid $40 for M&B2: Bannerlord. Hell, I'd pay $60+ hoping they'd beef their game up, and I am not talking a larger map.

There have been some very good suggestions. You have listed things you'd like to see and so have I. Here's to hoping TaleWorlds sorts through all of the suggestions in order to make Bannerlord a great, fulfilling experience.

Maybe they want to minimize potential bugs and incomplete features to focus on core gamrplay. I’m fine with that and OK with where the game is at as long as where the game is going what finished product is going to be is defined and they get it to that finished stage at a level that is satisfactory.

It’d be nice to have an actual roadmap with development stages defining what things and in what order will be updated and released to this EA beta. Why not bring back dev blogs.
Have a weekly dev blog and updated roadmap with list of priorities and what stage things are in. Do that in addition to patch notes. And every week update the current issues from feedback on bugs. That would resolve much of the frustration and clarify where feedback and suggestions are most needed.

Do this weekly:
1. Updated Roadmap
2. Dev blog
3. Patch notes
4. Updated known bugs list
5. Polls and feedback on specific feature

There should be new MAJOR content. Besides the things that were in Viking Conquest and some mods which should be added already.

Kingdom & Politics
  • Adding New Quests
  • Main Storyline Content
Art
  • Updating existing and creating new scenes
  • Updating existing and creating new equipment and other models
  • Adding new weapon parts for crafting
  • Creating new armour design concepts

these are not enough, i think
the game should be M&B "II" Bannerlord not M&B: Bannerlod, as the name suggest.

But, i don't think they are doing bad right now. I understand they have other priorities and they don't like sharing so much of their mind since they can change it so quickly.

I couldn't agree with you more. A game with AD1257 design mixed with Viking Conquest level content would make Bannerlord look like solitaire.

You also make a great point about how the player is tunneled into one type of play style. Really kills the replay value in my opinion.

+1 Right? Was that really such a hard ask? To have some innovative and creative features that made deeper more immersive gameplay? Instead we got grindy influence mana and a less immersive and less interesting world to play in.

It's valid to wonder/worry about where this is going. While frankly disappointed and currently not playing anymore, I don't quite feel like the posted "roadmap" expresses anything more than "these are our priorities for now", which is, as OP said, fixing what they already have. That doesn't exclude new content

More importantly though; if the broken/barebones hinted features are actually implemented, I'm pretty sure we'd be a bit ahead of unmodded warband even (I only played native warband, so maybe my expectations are just lower.)

It may not really be harvesting season until the mods are out. Just saying man, this thing lacks content.

Above: If you have only played native Warband then your expectations are going to be way lower. I played native, but not for long. 1257 AD mod became my passion, I even designed scenes in that one.

So if you review the statement put out by the developer Duh_TaleWorlds you will see that it does not actually include any mention of new content or features.
I came to the same conclusion, however I've not taken the comment as a complete roadmap but things that are on their priority list right now in this moment. I've seen it as an attempt to please the people who demand a roadmap without giving a roadmap.

My gripe with Bannerlord is the depth of its features which seems to me where Warband excels. The argument on this forum is that Bannerlord has more features. This is not a true statement and is seriously damaging the potential the game has. To me it seems TaleWorlds isn't communicating on this properly because I am correct, which is not a good thing. It seems the game's concepts that made it original from other games being an RTSRPG are losing its depth. The game's graphical overhaul has fooled us because yes it does look so much better, but you cannot even call it a Warband with better graphics because they skimmed out on Warband's features - and man, that's a mistake for all of us.

I think the point of OP is that Warband does not excel in features and Bannerlord, in its EA state, has less. I agree Bannerlord should have significantly more depth to be considered feature complete. As of yet there hasn’t been mention of how TW plans to expand game beyond original scope only what they intend to fix or complete. It’s already the case that every location is meant to have a unique scene, it’s not they are adding more etc. I think it makes sense to discuss finishing what’s there now instead of adding things later considering the core game isn’t done yet. The ability to declare war / peace is just the first step to more in depth diplomacy, but hasn’t really been defined iirc.

TaleWorlds may never have a content rich game. Maybe the problem is our misunderstanding of what Mount and Blade is supposed to be, because they never really defined it with any substance. We had to imagine what the game was because they’ve only ever been half finished.

At this point, "content" is just becoming the most vague word ever in the English dictionary. A mystified concept that just represents the complainers psyche, without any substance, just "something this game just does not have."

The entire thread is a circle-jerk at this point.

Frickin' doesn't matter if the devs finish something. If the devs improve upon something with new features. If they fix broken things and bring new possibilities, or actually do announce and introduce total new features (like the sandbox kingdom mode).

It just doesn't count, does it. lol "Oh those were already in the game."

Hopeless, these philistines.

Basically, at this point, the excessive negativity without any kind of fair consideration or realistic mindset, that some people are showing, is on the level of a teenage boy and his first sex. The boy just fantasizes about sex, gets his expectations and dopamine glands zonked out by watching too much hentai and porn, and by the time he actually has his first sex, gets disappointed that his orgasm isn't like the world-shattering pleasure porn promised, nor the partner's reactions the raving ahegao he always saw in hentai -- and then, subsequently starts blaming the partner for his disappointment, and could not deliver.

It's becoming PATHETIC. The forum's pretty much infested with the worst of twitter mindset.

I mean... yea it lacks content and it will keep on lacking content. Bannerlord is basically Warband stripped of features with better graphics at this point.

The last patch for 1.4 was just a list of balance changes and some bug fixes... I'm honestly over this game already, Gonna come back to it in maybe a year or so (I'm still gonna monitor the patches). Hopefully, they add some meaningful quests, stories, proper diplomacy, and political system... Maybe fix the map so the result of games isn't very similar like it is now.

Voice acting would be nice, and it also looks like they are planning to add voices, the chick at Epictrea has a voice for a couple of lines.

The sooner the people complaining leave the better. Games only been out for weeks and it’s made good progress, early access usually last a year or year and a half, by release this game will make warband and all the mods for it look pitiful.
