Can someone comment on my budget/poor box?

CPU:Core 2 Duo [email protected] using mobo o.c. Utility(im a light o.c.er)

CPU Cooler:Stock.

Motherboard: Asus P5G41C-M LX (old ddr2,ddr3 combo)

GPU: GTX 650 Ti 1GB (could not pay 15$more to 2GB)[upgraded 3 months ago)[Used a GT240 2009-2014]

RAM: Kinston 1x2GB DDR2 800Mhz (main bottleneck atm)

HDD: 2TB WD Blue 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache (upgraded 1 year ago)[Used my old 120gb IDE 2004-2013]

PSU: CRAPPY 450 Watt which has 288watt on 12v (at least 5 years old, maybe 10)

Case: Case that came with my first computer, 10 YEARS OLD,has FLOPPY DRIVE

Optical Drive: LG DVD/CD Combo Writer

OS:32bit XP, 32bit Vista(using right now), Ubuntu

Monitor: 1080p Acer with crappy angles, colors change

Keyboard: A standart usb keyboard. W is BROKEN

Mouse: Wireless Logitech non-gaming

Audio:10 year old speakers came with original pc

And this is the upgrade I want;

CPU:i3 4130, thought about FX 6300/6350 but my psu probably cant handle it

MoBo: Asus Z81 board

RAM: Will use my not compatible 1333mhz 4gb corsair( later getting anohter 4gb)

So thats it. I use a case thats 10 YEARS OLD. WOW!

You need to get a new motherboard and RAM to stick that CPU in. While you're at it you probably need a better PSU for the GPU, and at that point you've replaced everything so you might as well get a case too.

Whoa whoa, what! I never replace my case I still use that floppy(hehe). Well this thread is probably pointless because I did not ask anything like I did in my Tomshardware thread. I already have a 4gig corsair stick that is not compatible with my board. Well, thinking again, that plan better work because i3 4130 uses less power than my current processor.

I still need comments on this build

Edit: Thing about PSU and Case is that I want to make that last upgrade, then get a new build 3-4 years later.

Good luck reusing a PSU

Uh, do you have a link to where you found that "Asus Z81 mobo"? I can't find anything by that designation except for replacement parts (keyboards and such) for laptops.

Also, just for the sake of clarity: This is your computer right now, and you want comments on it as well as upgrade advice:

And you want to get a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM (you already have the RAM lying around, but you need a mobo that it'll work with), and possibly replace the PSU since it's crap? Correct?

DDR3 RAM (Which he most assuredly has lying around) does not fit into a DDR2 slot which his old ass motherboard has.

I'm sure pretty much any motherboard you'll find will have DDR3 RAM slots. Also a PSU is the part which you don't want to skimp on, if everything goes perfectly a bad PSU probably fries your rig. If you want any help on possible upgrades (hell, anything is an upgrade over DDR2 RAM  that stuff is ancient) you should give some sort of a budget.

That is what I was waiting on. Essentially nothing but the case could ideally be used in a complete rebuild (which is what this needs). Using an old PSU is a great way to lose a bunch of money in case something goods bad, you can reuse the case because at worse it will provide worse airflow and look ugly compared to a new case.

UPDAAATE!

Oh dammit then. I thought I could be a cheap arse and get away with just replacing my e7500 and mobo

You want a budget and I know why. I cant't really set it now cus' I might get some good coin from somewhere else too  But I think also replacing my GPU(650Ti) in the process would be too costly. So lets say I want something that matches the lifetime of my GPU. Its probably an i3 4130 or FX 6300, right?

Core i3 4130 for 144$

"Dat mobo" Asus H81M-D for 67$

My Corsair Value Ram for 0$

Total: 211$

FX 6300 for 134$

Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 for 100$

Meh Corzair RAM for 0$

Total: 234$

FX 6350 w/liquid cooling for 166$

Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 for 100$

(Not again )

Total=266$

Prices include Value Added Tax.

CM 600W APFC PSU Brown Box for 80$

Thermaltake Litepower 600W ATX 2.3 APFC 12cm for 84$

High Power Element Bronze 600W 80+ for 82$ 540 watts on v12

Aerocool VX 500W (408watts@12v) for 50$

Recommended PSU Wattage is 512 watts on %100 load and %30 capacitor aging, using FX 6350.

Recommended PSU Wattage is 385 watts on %100 load and %30 capacitor aging, using i3 4130.

Yeah, still need suggestions and comments. Took me a while writing this. Wow...

Try finding an i5 processor, they're the ****.

Dont think it would make much sense to pair an i5 with 650ti 1gb. They have easy time handling 2 780ti's or anything more extreme. I cant buy a new GPU now.

So, is i3 4130 going to be OK with any of these PSU's ? How much do you think I will use that build? 40+ fps is enough for me at 1920x1080.

You're not losing anything by getting a faster processor than your GPU. You are losing out if you get a faster GPU than your processor.

A slow CPU's bottleneck is a ***** to get rid of. GPU bottleneck can be solved by lowering graphics settings.

SkyTime 说:
Also the cheapest i5's shouldn't be that much more expensive than your i3's.

Researched the Turkish side of internet a little.

Most preferred site for buying hardware: i3 4130=144$, i5 3330=228$

Second preferred site for buying hardware: i3 4150=137$, i5 3330=215$,i5 4440=219$

(Also found Windows 8 64bit for 137$  )

Also found some notably stuff on Turkish version of E-Bay.

i5 661 for 90$

i5 650 for 102$

i7 920 for 104$

i7 950 for 128$

i5 760 for 135$

i7 950 for 154$

i5 3470 for 165$ (seems a good deal)

i5 2400 for 170$

I don`t know if they can be trusted. I also doubt if these CPU`s were used "properly"(you never know, all kinds of people around).

Also I could not find a 1156 Socket MoBo on my two preferred shopping sites. Only the last two offers are 1155 pin so, I guess I will get one of those if I do.

Expecting to buy i3 4130 and a H81, now I am looking to buy an i5, H61(or whatever 1155pin entry level is)board,Windows 8 and maybe a new psu(still not convinced I can`t/should not recycle my old one, PSU`s are expensive as hell but I found some corsair psus on the good side  ).

Yeah, seems your right about that one. On the down side, lifetime of my hardware will not match, and if I upgrade my GPU later, then I would need to upgrade sometime later. But I should not think about that I suppose.

Here's another argument in favor of upgrading and leaving the GPU - a GPU can be easily replaced any time, a CPU requires a motherboard, the CPU itself, and possibly RAM. Best to get a CPU that lasts and keep whatever GPU you can stick in there.

Out of curiosity, Fausto, are you flat broke, or just unwilling to spend money? No offence; I'm just trying to understand things here.

Nah I ain't flat broke or anything but getting some moneh out of parents when they are flat broke is... not easy

Being 15 and having no income sucks. I am trying to get a 6week job, though.

Oh, haha. Well, I'm 17 and with no income and one parent (the one who generally does all the shopping/buying, as the other one is usually too busy working to buy anything for anyone) who doesn't like technology/really doesn't like buying anything computer-related. My advantage is that a relative of mine died last year and left me a nice inheritance, so of course I'm hoping to go and spend a large amount of it on a fancy computer.

OOOOOH  Good way to "earn" some money
Wish s/he rests in peace. Maybe you werent so sad after all huh

Mi dad said "WTF? You gonna spend 140$ on a GPU? Wow." I could not convince him to get the 2gb version for 10$ more. Go figure

Generally speaking, low end/unbalanced pcs are common in Turkey. Dad uses his pc to play Knight Online and web browsing. A friend of mine bought a prebuilt i7 system then added GTX 760 as GPU . System looks as follows:
i7 4960

8GB Dual Channel 1600(probably) RAM

****ty case by that brand

Probably weak psu

Probably weak mobo

1TB HDD

GTX 760

Money wasted on i7 makes me laugh. He could have gone with the 770, much stronger as I know

Edit: I think I am going with a second hand i5 3470+ Cheapest Asus 1155 MoBo for 217$. The i5 itself is 165$ Only 24$ more than i3 4130. It does not come with stock fan or the box, processor only.

I really have no idea what cooler to buy. I dont want to spend much on cooler either. Is a 7$ CPU Fan going to do its job? I dont much care about the noise, I want the best cooling possible. Thats why I set my stock fan on performance mode

Also using an 10 year old case, I have no idea if CPU cooler will fit. Need to open it sometime and take a look.

Also don't call me cheap(actually I am) cus' Its struggling to buy CPU, MoBo and OS at the same time. Damn EA can't develop games for linux.

Imagine the look on my dads face when I bought my GTX 780ti for nearly 800e >.> That was 3/4 of what I earned last summer, I had saved on this new PC that I now have for almost a year, + summer money + my old PC and then the occasional coin or two I got from Christmas.

An i5 should last you for a while if you're happy with mediocre to low graphics with decent performance and it's good enough to run some older games just fine on higher settings. As Splintert said it's much, much easier to replace your GPU than your CPU so you don't need to worry about that. You don't need a fancy cooler either, as long as you have some CPU cooler there. Big heatsinks and such are good of course but my last PC had none of that and I had an i5 2500k there and the temperatures weren't too bad, though the old case did cause some airflow problems and made the PC crash when playing the newest CoD pos. I just installed more fans.

Its decided. I will try to get a decent second hand i5.Upgrade other stuff later.

Shopping List: Decent priced second hand i5 (will test it when I get, also need to know how to test it)

Cheap CPU Cooler

Cheap Asus Mobo

Windows 8.1

(if my old PSU fails) new  corsair PSU with room to upgrade.

Save money for as long as I can then buy the following:

A PSU that can handle new graphics card

Quadruple the ram (go from 4gb single slot to 16gb dual channel if needed, if not get 8gb)

Buy a new powerful gpu

(If my case dies) get a new case with lots of airflow

EDIT: FORGET THE SECOND HAND STUFF.

Gonna sell my Core2Duo, MoBo, Old GT 240, 2gig ram, 160g ide hdd(if he needs that),old psu(maybe),my Windows XP or Vista to a trusted friend. How much should I charge him? 150$ ?
