Ultimate Khergit tactic!

Sergeant at Arms
Hello, all!

I have been playing as a horse archer for the Khergits for some time and I have fought countless enemies. But, and that is a but. I have fought against shielded enemies and I find that annoying and a little bit hard. But, I have been experimenting with this for some time, and i have found a very usefull way to kill enemies with shields without going to close.

What you do is that you charge at an enemy with your bow ready to fire. Then they will lower their shield and prepare to strike you with a spear or sword etc., and when they do that you fire at them while you turn left or right depending on where there is room for turning.
And that is that. Would be gratefull if you good people would reply with why or why not this is a good idea. It would also be fun if you put in some tactics of your own.

Cheers

Make sure you don't turn left that much. If you haven't noticed, you can't shoot to your right side while on a horse, because that's unrealistic for a right hander.

True.

!!!!WARNING!!!!
I have just updated the tactic! About the turning part, you can only turn right.
But other than that, do you think it was a usefull tactic?

From the title I thought it would be a tactic using a Khergit army and not a horse archer tactic. If you're looking for tactics for similar purposes you could  get your men to charge them front on as you pluck away and/or position yourself behind them as they're mostly heading for your men.

Hate to break it to you, but I've been doing this for some considerable time, when I get sick of shooting at feet. (Including the veer to right bit just as I shoot.)

Nice works alright for me I usually use my advantage the fast horses to group them them together and fire at will remember to stand close together and as the enemy gets close enough i have my men charge at them it works perfectly that way half is about knocked out and the other is killed. Just keep regrouping your men just in case there is another wave to clear ;p. They should really put in Horse archers as there own unit

I wouldn't call this ultimate, but it does work. Usually though, I just shoot people in the back when they're riding away.. if they're coming at me, I slash at their horse or their legs with something heavy and sword-like, killing one or the other, which tends to solve the problem anyway.

A tactic which the AI uses on me all the time, which I find extremely frustrating because the players can't use it.. is to send 1-2 horse archers riding straight into my cavalry charge while all the rest form up in a line and volley arrows. That then breaks my cavalry charge, because the bloodthirsty AI can't resist an easy kill: half my cavalry pile into a mob around the sacrificial rider, so the rest only reach the enemy lines in dribs and drabs.

I accept that this is quite a neat little trick and would like to employ it myself on the enemy, but because I'm the only cavalry I can control seperately and don't really want to kill myself in the first ten seconds of the fight, it's not available to me.

Yeah well the strategy is pretty good. In fact it works pretty well in the arena when you have the honor of being stuck with a bow, some arrows and a horse.

And like Avauthe said, I too spend most of my time shooting riders in the back. It does wonders when you have to chase down those pesky Vaegir knights or Khergit lancers.

Easy use the most weakest companions ctrl f5 send them in and have archers for a line up there on a hill  that way you may do what they do just with a hirer cost.
