This war is different because there were no reasons for it. They are all fictional. They are built on lies, spread by Russian television. There was no reason for people to kill each other. It is a theatre of the absurd. This is now one of the most epic wars for me.

Russian military forces, mercenaries and insurgents have been battling Ukrainian forces, some of whom are volunteers, for control of the airport for weeks, but Ukrainian forces have so far managed to heroically hold strong against constant shelling, ground raids and attacks. As a result, the enemy has dubbed the men holding the airport, “Cyborgs.” While heroically defending the airport, one such Cyborg was killed. He was a tank driver and images of the rescue of his remains for transport home and burial were posted online with commentary by the photographer.

Roskomnadzor's warning to Ekho Moskvy related to this week's program, in which two journalists exchanged first-hand accounts of fighting between pro-Russia rebels and government forces in eastern Ukraine.

The journalists, Sergei Loiko of the Los Angeles Times and Timur Olevskiy of Russia's independent Dozhd television station, talked, in particular, about fighting around the airport in the main rebel-held city of Donetsk, that has continued despite a truce signed in September.

The agency said Friday the program contained "information justifying war crimes," but didn't elaborate.

Ekho Moskvy's editor-in-chief, Alexei Venediktov, rejected the claim and said the station would appeal the warning.

Under Russian law, a media outlet could face closure if it receives two warnings in one year. The warning was the first for Ekho Moskvy.

While most Russian media toe the government's line, Ekho Moskvy has given a platform to Kremlin critics despite being majority-owned by a branch of Gazprom, Russia's state-controlled gas giant.

Media freedom in Russia has steadily shrunk under the rule of President Vladimir Putin. With all nationwide television stations under state control and most print media full of adulation for Putin, authorities have methodically moved to tame few remaining independent media outlets amid a strain with the West over Ukraine.

Early this year, several leading cable and satellite providers cut Dozhd, the top independent TV station, from their packages following an inquiry by prosecutors. Later, the owner of Lenta.ru, a leading online news outlet, fired its editor over coverage of Ukraine.

And last month, Russian lawmakers approved a bill that would limit foreign ownership in Russian media to 20 percent. The measure was widely seen as directed at critical print outlets with foreign ownership, such as the Vedomosti business daily and the Russian Forbes magazine.

Ukrainian soldiers destroy a separatist ammunition carrier (video):

Well, here is something more or less related: a woman tried to commit suicide because of the country's choice for European integration.

Now you can understand why some people are fighting for comrade Putin in Donbass.

I liek this one:
Before you start watching: on the video Putin says: "It's like in an anicdote - no matter how or what a married couple does during it's consummation (um, a wedding night(?), the result/outcome should be one".
Oh yeah, it was the joke.

Just look at Merkel's reaction. It's like: "o_O omg, I can't believe I'm actually hearing this"
*turns to the dude on the right* "Did you hear the same thing?"

The subs in the vid are not that subtle though.

Ukraine's military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said in a televised briefing: "The deployment continues of military equipment and Russian mercenaries to the front lines."

So by that logic the largest mercenary army in the world is in fact the Russian military.

Just read this hilarious memorandum on LNR's official site.
We, Donbas citizens, appeal to Ukrainian government demanding to immediately reconsider their latest policy, which is freezing social payments guaranteed by Ukrainian law to citizens of Lugansk and Donetsk regions who currently stay in the territories beyond Kiev's control. We are gravely offended by this government's decision to effectively steal pensions and benefits from our veterans, retirees, handicapped citizens and mothers.

As you know, on the 5th of November Ukrainian prime-minister A. Yatsenyuk made a public statement that Kiev will no longer transfer pension funds to Donbas for citizens who were to change their registration to localities in Donetsk and Lugansk regions still under Kiev's control but refused to do so.

-...-

We believe this governmental decision to be outrageous and demeaning not only to their own dignity but that of every Ukrainian citizen. This is not merely lawless opportunism but a deed that should be recognized as social genocide by any unbiased jury. Ukrainian government has declared war not on armed fighters but on its own people and the most helpless to boot. This is destruction of one's own country, authorities in Kiev effectively separate themselves from their own citizens living in Donbas.
This last paragraph totally made me do a double-take.
Wait, so you people recognize you are Ukrainian citizens? What the **** with all the referenda and independence dclarations?

What are you talking about? Storming the Provincial Governmental buildings with 50 men and declaring yourself Prime minister is the very height of democracy.

It was discovered that Igor Ghirkin (Strelkov), one of the separatist leaders of the DNR had fought alongside Transnistria in 1992.

Also, a convoy of Russian "humanitarian aid" is heading for Transnistria, but the Ukrainian border guards are holding them at their border. Things are getting interesting.

Apparently Girkin was also in Bosnia as a Serb volunteer, and in Chechenya.
