****ing knees on Saunders... sick!

Indeed! Very impressive performance.

That puts me at 1-4 on the prelims alone.

**** that turned out to be an interesting even! kinda makes me wish I HAD ended up going. Oh well, I'm at 108 unless someone ****s up again.

I didn't see UFC 106 but I just read the news that Tito was crying into the microphone about how he was too injured to win his fight like a big baby. I love it. Before the fight he said he was in the best shape of his life, if you say that before the fight you have to just shut up and take the loss like a man.

He was most certainly churning out the excuses. Even went so far as to say he fought with a cracked skull and an injured neck. HOWEVER . . .

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released the UFC 106 medical suspensions that are commonly handed out following mixed martial arts events. As is the norm, there were medical suspensions in the majority of the fights.

Paulo Thiago is suspended until Dec. 22 with no contact until Dec. 13 due to a nasal bridge cut.

Jacob Volkmann is suspended until Dec. 13 with no contact until Dec. 6 due to scalp and nasal bridge cuts.

Luiz Cane is suspended until Jan. 6, 2010, at the minimum with no contact until Dec. 22. He must have a right orbital fracture cleared by an oral, maxilla, facial doctor or he is suspended until May 21, 2010.

Phil Baroni is suspended until Jan. 6, 2010 with no contact until Dec. 22 due to left eyebrow and left scalp lacerations.

Marcus Davis is suspended until Jan. 6, 2010, at the minimum with no contact until Dec. 22 due to multiple cuts. He must have a broken nose cleared by a doctor or he is suspended until May 21, 2010.

How is Marcus Davis not dead....

Well given that Tito appears to have magical healing powers, he must have saved poor ol' Marcus.

heh, Tito is the UFC LHW champion of excuses. I don't think i've ever seen him just be like "I got ****ed up, my opponent is the bigger man" he just unleashes this long ass verbal maelstrom of reasons.

It is because you lack knowledge of K-1 that you enjoy the half-hour hugs and roll-arounds that UFC specialises in.  This is the word of the lord.

Let the flaming begin!

For the record, I don't much like either sport.  I'm maybe too old to enjoy the sight of people getting severely injured or just generally trounced in public for no good reason... it just depresses me these days.

Give me a reason, give me a living reason, though... and i'll watch.

you know probably over half the people in K-1 fight/have fought for Pride/Strikeforce/Affliction/IFL/UFC right? It's hard to make money fighting trust me, going purse for an amateur boxing match here is $200, and $200 to win.  For MMA it's around $500-$1000 just to show, again amateur level.

And unless you've stepped into a cage, or ring, the feeling can never be explained to you. The reason is inside you.

Yeah, I know - the thing that makes me saddest about the openly encouraged brutality of K-1 (rather than the semi-regulated sportsmanship and, I suppose, honour of UFC) is that by the time these guys are in K-1 they are too old, too drunk, too wasted on various 'roids, and usually fighting for a purse just to support their families in the manner to which they've become accustomed.  It is generally reserved for fighters who are past their best, like travelling boxing shows used to be.  Except Remy Bonjansky, though, who could annihilate nearly anybody in seconds - if jump-kicking above the shoulder was allowed.

He's a gazelle that kills people.

I've never stepped into a cage or a ring, but I've been in enough fights to know that I don't really like it anymore (and never really did).  And the people who enjoy it win, so there's no point in me trying to compete with that.  I'm not as brave as a fireman, as hung as a porn star, as smart as a... eh, science guy... or as tough as these fighters.  I still admire them for what they do, but don't much like watching them anymore.

It's true what you say, though - except for (maybe, tragically) in the case of K-1, and private matches for the Yakuza and such, these guys aren't in it for the money.  At all.

I watch both, which is much easier now that I have HDnet (aka the best channel to ever exist, for a fight fan that is).

So naturally I can't wait for FieLDS Dynamite!! 2009. Hell yes.
