Just announced on CBN, the budget has finally been passed as of 20 minutes ago. Approximately one hour before the government shutdown... it's about damn time, eh? So what're your thoughts on this?

EDIT:

Ooopsie, looks like I made a booboo. The parties agreed on it but they're still rushing to get the vote in before midnight. It's pretty much a definite thing at this point, but it hasn't quite been made official yet.

Split the country into three parts. I'm tired of idiots from other parts of the country dragging me down with their stupidity.

And who exactly would you consider these idiots to be? It'd help if you were a bit more specific... and just in case you've failed to notice every state is represented, so it's not "idiots from other parts of the country" dragging you down, it's idiots from every part of the country.

Did they do something about the Planned Parenthood thing?  How sad that it comes to down to an abortion issue...

I'm being hazy because I don't want to offend anyone. Tired of arguing... the problem is no one will change their mind regardless of what you argue. It's a complete waste of breath. And the only solution is to let people live they way they want. I suppose you could split it into two parts.

What does that mean exactly? And would you be so kind as to link to an article?
The news made it sound like every employee of the government will stop recieving paychecks and all government organizations will all close down or something  :???:

One of these guys, eh?

Yeah, about that, from the news sources I've read, the articles depicted the fight primarily due to the Republicans refusing to back down until some small services related to government funded abortions were cut as well. Anyone know any more about this? It can't be this simple a picture.

Oh cheer up , there are people who will change their minds when a good reason is presented to them to do so, I know debates can make it seem like neither opponent is giving ground sometimes, but this is because changes of opinion don't always happen instantly.

I believe they settled somewhere in between, a compromise of sorts.

I very much doubt an article has already been put up concerning something that was just decided 20 minutes ago. And the government shutdown was declared by Obama a while back if the budget wasn't passed by midnight as of this date, it pretty much would have caused the government to shut down (meaning do nothing but work on passing this budget) untill the budget was passed. The troops wouldn't have been payed, the post office would have shut down, things like that.

It seems it is from what I am reading about, they have all the money issues agreed on, its just that the repubs want funding to NPR, Planned Parenthood and a few other organizations stopped...

It means federal employees would be compelled to work without pay. Certain sectors have their own finances and reserves, but paper pushers would be screwed.

And as said, its idiots from the whole country. Not even the TEA party can agree on what they would cut. Its easy to agree with the idea of cutting spending, but everyone wants to cut what they don't use. No one can agree on what to cut, and no one has the balls to negotiate for cuts across the board.

Actually the democrats are more to blame than the Republicans, this budget was supposed to be passed in october back when they still had Majority. However due to incompetence or something of the sort at the time it came to this...

And the Democrats wouldn't have made as big of a fuss had the Republicans added in things they disagreed with? What if they had tried to get government funding for christian churches? It's the politics game, that is after all how politics work.

I wish they would actually cut funding from some military programs. Like the future weapons and such, its just a waste...

Not to mention 85% of the budget was off limits to cutting: defense and medicare/aid. Damn constituency pet projects.

I am against cutting military funding in any way. What most people don't understand is that without the military we are nothing but a bunch of kids who want to be "big boys". If we reduce military spending we could very well be in deep **** 20 years from now when we piss somebody off. We wouldn't be able to get away with half the **** we do if we didn't have a large and advanced military.

Warning - while you were reading a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

Blah. Made a long post about the tard Republicans, but realized any such nonsense is useless to bother dealing with.

Why not do about half the **** we do?

Would that just mean you have to rely on your NATO allies and cooperation among the UN nation states?

I mean cut spending for the little pet projects that are not going to help us short-term. Stupid little projects that do not need so much money invested into them.

The short term projects aren't the ones we need though, it's long-term that we need to worry about.
