On Japanese keyboards, there are two keys for switching from single-byte input to double-byte input (for Japanese characters such as kanji, kana, emoticons etc). When you're in two-byte mode, letter entries are only the first of two steps to get the character onscreen.
In M&B, if I inadvertantly hit a key for double byte entry, letters appear in the top left of the screen (strings of "wwwww" for example as I charge the horse). After that, the targetting of archery disappears, and if I shoot an arrow, it flies backwards out of my bow. If I'm on foot, I can only move straight ahead or straight backwards (I cannot turn, nor can I walk at any angle).
I wonder if M&B can disable alternative character input methods, so that only single byte input would result from pressing the a, s, d and w of locomotion. (ANd yes, I wonder if I can stop hitting the "switch" buttons on my keyboard
