moraka

After a period of burnouts, where is did not feel like modding; a period of not having time, a period of intense depression and stress, a period where i was not certain if i should make this mod and a period where i lacked the necessary knowledge to make this mod. I have finally restarted the project again. As i am a one-man team this will take some time. I will opdate as i make progress.
The general idea behind this mod, is that it is a historical mod taking place in the 18th century, although i am not certain if it should be in the late, middle or early 18th century.

I have currently made four swords. I have planned to make in total somewhere around 32 sword. I don't bother to add some picture. But i
have made them osp. As i make more i will update the osp.

Having done the research i should have done in the beginning. I realized that the mod can not take place in the middle of the 18th century. As the mughal territories are to fragmented. Instead it has to take place either in the early part of the century perhaps around the 1730s or later on in the 1770s. Where the mughal army modernised and there was some re-expansion. This means that the mod either has have the musket warfare of the 1770s or the more medieval warfare of the early 1700s. If i choose the later part of the century i could call it instead Age of Tipu sultan. What should i choose?

the swords are awesome but tulwar is curved like scimitar.tulwar is used for both slashing and thrusting.the swords look like kirach. please take the mod back in time frame around 1650.

When i looked on google, i found some strait swords called tulwars. But if they resemble kirach and having looked at some(right now) they seem to resemble them, i will rename them kirach. I could perhaps take the time frame, to lets say 1658 and call it Age ot Aurangzeb. Allthough that would also require that i include all of Persia. But since i have plenty of information of the safavids, that should not be a problem. I will definantly consider it.

I have updated my Morakas Indian Swords OSP with four new swords.

There is a dilema with having elephants in the mod. They are after all just elephant moddels, put on the horse program(what ever you call it). Which ruins the hole thing when they behave like a horse, jump like a horse and sound like a horse. With using the elephant moddel that someone made, while it is very good, half the character's body is missing, and there are no mahout controling the elephant like in real life. There is one elephant model with a howdah. But it is made quite bad on that elephant. While videogames certainly require suspension of disbelief this is to much.
To make the hole thing worse, on the fourth or was it the seventh attemt to make this mod last year. I did implement the elephant and made most of the nobles ride it. Unfortunately under testing, they behaved like they rode horses, which meant that in close combat they would pull their melee weapons. Which on the elephant required a long one. Looking at a character riding towards you on a elephant and attacking with a sword, is simply to strange. While this unrealism can be solved by giving them spears, that would be their only melee weapon.
With these two problems i am not fond of implementing the elephant. Considering the importans of elephants in the 16th and 17th centuries, especially for the commander of the army, this is a big problem. I should realy have considered all the problems, before even announcing that i would make this mod, back then and even today, but you get so eager to tell.
There are though solutions, simply don't have elephants in the mod. In the 18th century elephants became obsolete, although they where still used even up to the middle of the 19th century. Perhaps i should just make the mod take place in the late 18th century. It is definently something to consider.
Though one thing i will do, is to make everything(which also includes the module files) OSP, so if anybody of the probably 6 people interested in this mod who wants it to take place in another timeframe, they can make changes to the mod. I will even make items(if i have time) for that era if they want to.
This of course means that i am stuck with the dilema of calling this mod Twillight of the Mughal empire, Age of Tipu Sultan or Last rise of the Mughal empire. But i am still thinking about the timeframe.

Once again for i realise that its not smart to announce your mod, until you at least are half way throught. Something i realised a long time ago, but still can't resist doing. After a lot of thinking, scrutinising, resarch & looking at maps, with considering the elephant dilema. I have come to the conclusion, that the 1770's is the better period to make. Considering the fact that the mughal empire in the middle of the 18th century, barely had any territory, but there was a small revival in the 1770's. But i could make a alternate history. Say it takes place in 1750's with the mughals having more territory, than in the real world. Oh once again a dilema.

Maybe you should change the goal of your project? No matter the era, making a complete SP mod based on historical India will take an almost unimaginable time. Elephants, 100% new armors/weapons/other items but the hardest part would be to make 100% new scenes. For 1 guy, no matter how good of a modeller he is, it seems impossible to get all this done before the first Bannerlord mod is made.

So how about decreasing your ambition and make indian OSP or try to get a proper elephant made? People would appreciate some Indian OSP and especially a working elephant. You could even make your own MP mod with these things along with Indian styled battle maps. I also recommend that you use "Empire: Total War" and "Age of Empires 3" for inspiration if you continue the indian theme.

Thanks GunFred you really have a point, that i forgot to consider. While i right now have plenty of spare time and i could cut corners here and there. It would still take a lot of time. Not only do i have to make an indian inviroment but i also because of India and Afghanistans geografi would have to include Tibet, which would mean even more time spent of making items, scenes and doing research. And i will not keep on having this much spare time. But making plenty of Indian osp, that i have time for.

You could just cut the map at the beginning of the Himalayan range, and include the parts of the Hinduskush to the west. I wish you good luck. Maybe you could first create a model pack for Indian, Mughal and Durrani arms and armour ? This would draw more attention and people would be more appealled to join this.
