Tweaker's advice for 2.03

The boss just released the 2.03 patch  8-) so I've not had a chance to see if the release is different from the beta in one respect.  But I was baffled by this until I troubleshot it and I'm hoping to head off some frustrations.

The tweak to display your actual weekly wage bill in the party window (instead of the wages of whoever you happen to have with you at the time) worked with 2.02 but did not work with the 2.03 beta.  It produces a wall of red errors due to erroneous calling of get_random_enemy_center and eventually breaks the game from accumulated error values stored in wrong registers.  Again, this tweak worked previously but no longer does so.  So don't apply it in a batch with others just because it worked for 2.02.

As always, hang on to the install file, make backups, change one thing at a time, use at own risk, and

That will fix the aziz's mine bug?
Sigh.  I hope you meant "Patch 2.03 will fix the al-aziz mine bug?" to which the answer is "yes, it does, although why you picked this thread to ask that question in is somewhat baffling, especially when there's a sticky devoted to what issues are fixed in each patch."

If you in fact meant to ask "The tweak to display party wages correctly will fix the al-aziz mine bug?", then the answer is "Because my neighbor has a red lawnmower."  Which is a) not in fact true and b) almost as surreally random as the question.

Now, if I'm understanding you correctly, this is because the typewriter don't eat ants?

Yes the 2.03 patch will address that issue.

My appologies for not creating the 2.03 patch issue thread so you could post there.  I have remidied my mistake.

There is a lot of information on these forums and it is confusing in it's presentation.  We are trying to keep it in some semblence of order so it is intuitive, but with limited success.

Best regards,

Woah the next patch already? That slipped by under my radar. I meant to get something into it.

I'm sending it to you now, anyway. It's a paste-over of some mesh and texture files so no new items or coding changes needed. The only problem would be if you changed pendora.brf in the patch.

Should I post a link here to the zipped file if anyone wants to add them to their game seperately? I don't wanna go all maverick or anything. I'm no hero.

I am thinking a 2.1 or 2.2 version that is not saved game compatible, adding new content..

Ok, thanks, I wasn't sure since the 2.03 description on the repository lists the 2.02 patch description:

This Patch is intended to upgrade an existing installation of Prophesy of Pendor V2.0 or V2.01 to 2.02

It is NOT SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE.

I think a game started in 2.02 will go to 2.03 but a 2.0 or 2.01 game will not.

So 2.0 => 2.02 or 2.03 no SGC
2.02 => 2.03 SGC

Also, there's a possibility that if you're soloing people or not changing your party screen, you won't get the wall of red errors and the second, more annoying symptom of this tweak breakage will show up.  From the issues thread:

i seem to have no messages or game log when playing .so if i tell them to follow me it doesnt show up on the bottom left of my screen or if i win or anyone dies i have to go in my reports to see .whats the fixs for this?
Did you by chance apply the tweak to make your party wages display correctly in the party screen?  'Cause in addition to the flood of red error messages most times you change anything in your party, it breaks the message display.  You could concievably have gotten lucky / been soloing people and not gotten the party screen errors before the message display blew up.  This tweak worked for 2.02 but not with 2.03.  Which I'm hoping means the boss fixed the wage display in 2.03 and just didn't consider that worth mentioning in the patch notes.  In any case, the tweak causes bad juju like what you describe, so that's my first guess.
