I'm fine with either Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons and evenings - GMT. Though due to my work I won't be able to attend every weekend. If I work Saturday, then I have Sunday free and vice versa the next weekend. So if you intend to play every weekend and not alternate between Sat/Sun, then I should just play some minor instead so missing a session doesn't impact the game too much. In which case put me down for Finland or Romania.

We sometimes alternate, depending on what other people want that given week, plus some weeks we might not play at all. So I can't guarantee it'd be a regular thing you can count on every time. I'll put you down as Romania at least for now. We got a couple weeks to see what happens. It's a shame to "waste" you on a minor, since you're probably better than me

We still need a UK and USSR at least, my dudes. So far it looks like:
Axis:
Germany - Me
Japan - Cowdude
Italy - Almalexia
Hungary - Captured Joe
Romania - Jhessail*

Allies:
UK - ?
France - Beny
USA - Beny
USSR - ?
China - gokiller
Australia - TitanToe
Canada - Wulfburk

For a total of 9 players.

Pixel are there any OOS problems with large mp groups or is it mostly fine?

I've played with groups of more than 15 and it was doable. I doubt we'll get that many so it should be more reliable, but hopefully we'll get a good host in a central location (not me ). Given that it's an old paradox game we are likely to go OOS every so often anyway.

I can always go with either the UK or the USSR if that is prefered. But I unfortunatly can't guarantee to always be there. So if no one is found for one of them in the end I can always switch.

I'll need to buy the DLC tomorrow, but I'm down to dying as Finland. I should be available on weekends regularly.

Also, whats with that "pre-building units meant for upgrading" thing? Is it an exploit of some sort? As for the checksum, I take it that only the DLC that arent sprites or music affect that, so I would just need the three main DLC (TFH, Götterdämmerung and For The Motherland)? And one more thing, are we going to have like faction specific voice chats or something?

If you build cavalry and then upgrade them to tanks, you save a lot of IC and time versus if you just straight up built tanks. Also there is an exploit where you can build militia, upgrade to mountaineers, and then disband the mountaineers for a net gain of manpower. It's a commonly used exploit when trying to survive as the Czechs or something. But yeah, stopping players from building units only to upgrade them prevents these problems.

Faction voice channels is what we used to do when I played MP but those were more serious than I feel this one will be, so really it's up to the people.

Also, I dunno if I want Hungary, Romania, AND Finland to all be human players when we still don't have someone on USSR ...

I'd take USA up front even if it's boring, and then coop with Beny afterwards since I don't know how to play because HoIIII is different from and therefore worse than HoIII. Maybe he can save me from whatever mess I've cause? But, I'd also be happy taking a minor nation if we want someone better as USA.

But how about building cavalry divisions and adding a separate armor brigade to them without upgrading the cavalry brigades themselves? Because that's what I wanted to do.

Also I work on saturday afternoon but am available from about 4PM GMT onward.

If it is going to be anything other than Sundays I should probably take a minor instead. I only play video games on the sabbath.

What are the pausing rules? None allowed, one per session? Also, minor players get a good book if we're playing 1936-1939 on speed 2 or 3, it'll be boring as ****. Tested my initial Soviet strategy last night in a quick 8-hour play against the AI. Good thing I did, it didn't quite work out as I planned so I need to revise it and crunch some numbers to refine it.

Since we seem to have many players for minors, switch me to USSR for good. I know it's presumptious of me to expect the sessions to be planned around my availability but I'd really love to bring Communism to Europe.  If the dates clash with my work, I'll try to swap with colleagues so I can make it. If i helps with planning the sessions, here are the Saturdays and Sundays I'm available for sure:
March: 3-4 / 10 / 18 / 24 / 31
April: 1 / 14 / 21-22 / 28
May: 5-6 / 12 / 19-20 / 26

That's perfectly fine and everyone does it.

Temuzu, you need SEMPER FI - FOR THE MOTHERLAND - THEIR FINEST HOUR, nothing else. Doing a clean install and launching HoI3 once after you install each expansion is the safest method. Last thing to do is to update TFH to the latest patch.  Remember to set your resolution and message settings in a single player game beforehand, so you don't have to mess with them in the multiplayer one.

Yeah, I just got the package they have on offer on Steam, I checked the checksum and it seems to be the right one, so I'm good to go.

Looks like Ev got Finland? That's fine, I'll pick another one once the list is updated.

My game still keeps crashing, no idea why. I'm not sure if I can even join with such an unstable game.
Delete map cache. That forces the game to recreate the world map. It slows down game start massively but only needs to be done once. A corrupted world map cache is one common reason for unexplained crashes.

Thanks, I'll try that. I had completely deleted both the folder in My Documents and everything in the Steam/steamapps/common/Hearts of Iron 3 folder before reinstalling it though.

I would give free Turán tank licences to whomever plays Siam.

Seems like that worked. Thank you!

If you're playing HoI3 without a good book nearby (preferably a book about WW2) you're doing it wrong.
