So as the title says, I am going to teach all the people who are having this problem (including me a while back) how to texture multi-meshed .OBJ files.
Ok so first of all the programs we will need:
BRF Editor - can be downloaded from the forum (unofficial editors)
Wings 3D - Google it and find a download site (it's free)
Adobe Photoshop - This if you don't have then get any other program you like to use to make textures (it's not free, you can only download a free trial)
DDS 2 Converter - Used for the textures.
And that would be it.
First of you have to make your texture (if you don't already have it). If you DON"T know how to import an item into the game you will have to use yoshiboy's awesome tutorial on importing items in-game.
Step 1:
-Make your model in wings (remember this is for multi-mesh OBJs) and texture it, then add the second mesh (whichever it is) and add it where you want to your model and then import the second texture you want for the second mesh.
Step 2:
-Start the texturing of your first mesh (if you dont know how to texture im sure you will find a million tutorials on texturing and UV mapping) and when your done use the second texture to stick it on to mesh #2.
Step 3:
-Once your done you should export the model as an .OBJ format in an appropriate folder (or desktop, wherever you find it easier to use). And as for the texture it has to be the size the game uses (or else you wont be able to convert it to a .DDS).
Step 4:
-Here you have to import the item in the BRF Editor (use yoshiboy's item importing tutorial for this). And here is the main part now... when you copy your texture in the texture folder and the .OBJ in the resource folder. Now you will have to add the color to them (texturing multi-meshes). On the side you should be able to see the name of your mesh (but it will have two same names just the second one is going to have a point and a number, its a matter of how many meshes you want to color). Make two new textures and then turn them into materials and name them (i use the same name as the texture).
now first select mesh number 1 and add a material (the one you used to color that part) to it (like yoshiboy does) and then select the other mesh and add the other material to it! And voila!
it should be colored as you textured it in wings...
Finishing notes:
1.This tutorial will now seem very complicated... that's why ill add pictures as a better guide, so its easy to follow.
2.Some people say this doesn't work for everything (i'm not sure but if you run into problems post it here and maybe we find a way to fix it)
3. Hope this helped!
