Turning down quest from a noble?

Why is there no way of turning down a quest when you talk to the King/Duke/Count, like you can when you ask the Merchant or Innkeeper?

But if you fail, it's okay. After all, it was a longshot. He regards you highly but not THAT highly.

Exactly, but if you're imprudent enough at that level to be offering your services, then it serves as a valuable lesson to level up a bit first and then offer your enhanced combat skills.

It would be better though if they would take into account more your level and experience and find you an appropriate task. Level 2 tasks would be like gathering 10 woolen caps from pirates.

That's actually excellent in the long run!!! There's three types of 'buy me this' missions anyway. There's the equipment and the horse too.

it would be ok, if you could return them not all at once, since well my inventory can't hold 31 horses...


but that is better then when I was playing around with some of the values, and need to return:

nice amount of money needed for a reward.

I think your charm value sortof effects the amount of money and items you need to find, since I also got 50000 for killing some bandits.

Well, my character has a quest which cannot be completed. The quest says 'Bring 4 fighting forks'. I assumed it meant military fork but NO! I have never seen such thing as fighting forks!

Bring four of every fork there is and four fighting picks just in case
