Turkey just banned Wikipedia today. https://turkeyblocks.org/2017/04/29/wikipedia-blocked-turkey/

Well, that settles it, I'm officially recommending we ban Turkey from joining the EU.

If you can't use wikipedia, then what is even the point of life?

We have become ignorant in a night.

Just yesterday, I was looking for a description for my essay topic.

Several articles can now finally become unprotected again.

Grades plummet across the whole of Turkey, the academic institution crumbles overnight.

That's how you do it. Always looking for the bright side of things.

“Instead of newspaper groups leveraging the government, as used to be the case, the government imposed newspaper ownership on its friends as a tax for doing business,” said Mr Finkel. “The new newspaper owners were people who weren’t really interested in media but felt they had to buy newspapers in order to do with the business with the government.”

There will be a election (both Presidential and parliamentary) on 24 June. This election supposed to be in November 2019. And the date of 24 June is just announced today. The Alliance's (AKP and MHP) candidate is already known, Erdo of course, but the other parties just have weeks to choose their candidate and do some pr or propaganda sort of things. Besides they have to take a decision about making election alliance or not.

I try hard convincing myself the country is a full blown dictatorship and elections do not matter at all but government somehow seems to be afraid of elections actually. I'm almost going to care about elections once again.

You should fear the elections. Erdogan is smart and he's calling them now on the heels of a "successful" military intervention that's been hyped to the moon and back, and it will be soon enough that the public at large will be remembering that and not yet feeling any of the negative effects of it and the imminent economic downturn. If the other parties only have weeks to choose their candidates to put forward then he can rest assured that he will likely only be facing a B-list of political opposition.

And THEN comes the full-blown dictatorship, after he wins his majority and ****s with your constitution. And he won't even have to commit electoral fraud.
