Hello everything! I hope this is the correct section for this; given the case, please move it freely to where it should belong.
I'm having an issue when editing the troops.txt file (through Morgh's editor, btw) when trying to customise my faction's unit trooptree in Native Mod Compilation module. Here i annex the troop.txt file from the module (with my edits). I'm pretty noob with this module editing stuff; i did my best humble effort so far, but please try not to be too specific or i might not understand you
-thought i'm slowing getting the wind blowing-
Short explanation of the problem:
I want all "Dragoon", "Hussar", "Warrior" and "Legionary" units from the custom faction (custom units located just below sarranid troops) to be able to carry throwing weapons alongside their regular meele weapon (just like Nord troops usually do, except that i want my troops to carry thrown weapons every time). If possible, i would like them to carry BOTH packs of thrown weapons so they have double ammunition.
What i have done so far trying to fix the problem:
I tried everything i could imagine. As the mod allows you to pick ingame the equipment for your troops (hence the "custom_*unit*_equip" and "custom_*unit*_selection" entries on the file), i first added some throwing weapons to the "_selection" entry, allowing my to pick them ingame; I also gave the units i wish to use said weapons according Power Throw and Thrown Weaps. Proficiency grades, and marked the "Ranged" flag.. Sadly, units keep telling me ingame that they don't have the needed skill or attribute to use them. So i game units 1 Weapon Master grade; same response. I gave ALL "unit", "unit_equip" and "unit_selection" the same Power Throw, proficiency and weapon master grade, and marked all of their "Ranged" flags. Finally, and having still no wanted response, i decided to refuse the ingame selection mechanism, and simply give my troops the desired equipment. So i edited the "custom_unit_equip" entries for all my units and gave them fixed gear including the desired thrown weapons, and still this bastards refuse to use them! xD
Long explanation of the problem:
I want my faction to have a troop alignment that is based on high-quality, extremely specialized and standarized troops (all troops from the same kind carry the same exact equipment). I gave my troops equal or slightly lesser stats compared to same-tier units, but my units carry better gear while being always 1 or 2 levels higher (so they take some more time to train, right? please correct me if i'm wrong here, this is just a common RPG-player assumption). Meele units are a refined version of Nords' troops; Though my faction lacks a huscarl-tier unit (and therefore, huscarls are still better than my Legionaries statwise), my units always carry meele axes and packs of thrown axes, unlike Nord troops that have a chance of having said weapons. My faction also has a mounted version of Nord warriors; Though they don't carry axes -unlike all meele footmen- they do carry javelins and jarids, so they can storm the enemy ranks with deadly power before charging. Ranged troops carrying bows are really focused on their task, rendering pretty much useless in meele combat, yet probably deadlier that anyone else from distance (with relative high armor, War Bows, Khergit Arrows and top-tier Archery Proficiency, this little bastards shall be real assassins from afar). Still, they pay for such power being really sucky in close-quarters combat (they have 0 Ironflesh, Power Strike and Athletics, they carry no shield and have low meele proficiencies).
Under this defined faction scheme, it is vital that my meele troops can carry thrown weapons (at least for unmounted units; horsed units can still be very deadly without them). Also, it is part of my faction's identity that troops shall be standarized, so i need ALL of the troops intended to have thrown weapons to have them (not just having a chance of having thrown weapons like Nords do, i need every single Trooper, Warrior and Legionary to have their corresponding troops)
Thanks in advance for any help! As i included the troops.txt file, if someone is willing to patch it up for me i'd be hugely thanked; yet i will still try to fix it up by myself given that i get some help with it ^^
