Troops have random equipment?

Hey there,
I noticed that my battanian clan warriors have some different equipment.

It's a cool thing if the armor and weapons are slightly different, because it brings more variety to the army, but it also has a big effect whether you win or lose because I couldn't make a shield wall for several battles when almost all my warriors forgot their damn shields...

I just want to know if it is meant to work that way? Does that just happen to low tier units because they are more like a chaotic and undisciplined bunch of peasants?

Probably intended just as in previous Mount & Blade titles

i dont think its intended like that, some of my vlandian crossbowman spawn without a sword and use their fists when enemys come close
