If I wanted to combine this with another mod which alters the Lords (I like the names the mod gives to the Lords and the overall flavour it adds, but I love the new troop tree in this mod) what exact files would I need? I know that I probably will have to do some text editing and add in the new troops, but leave the Lords alone, but are there any other specific files I need?

troops.txt, party_templates.txt, parties.txt, mission_templates.txt, scripts.txt, factions.txt: think thats all the files that are modified. Might hold off till I release the source in the future.

Since M&B version 1.0 is only about a month away and since school is about to crank back up for me, I'm going to remove the new companions from the next version and finish them later. So sometime later today I will probably put out a new version with the Terma faction and other little tweaks I've done. After that I will probably hold off on updates till 1.0 and its module system comes out, at which point I will try and figure out how to port this on over and then finish it up and release a 'non-beta' version along probably with the source.
 
I've played this mod a lot over the past few days as a faction that I regularly don't play: the Nords.

I personally find them to be easy targets for archers and even easier targets for massed cavalry charges, but playing with them in this mod is simply a treat. Nords in ranks will cause heavy casualties to almost any army, be they Khergit or Swadian and in a battle on foot, few can beat their combination of hard hitting and well protected troops. The Huscarls and Axemen are my favourite Nord troops, followed closely by the Throwing Axemen.

Fighting the Rhodoks as the Nords is a treat, because both factions make extensive use of foot warfare. The thing is, NPC-controlled Nords seem to have a habit of dismounting right before engaging in battle, so as to make the Raiders useless as cavalry. Same thing goes for NPC-controlled Rhodoks.

The Vaegir mounted archers also seem not to have horses. I have two in my party and they are always on foot, both in map mode when I talk to them and in battle. Some kind of error or something that wasn't looked over closely in development perhaps?

But the addition of the tactics and morale really breathes new life into Native. Great job!
 
Might I ask out of noobness,what the arena tweak in this mod does,or is for?(Basically same question,just wanted to know)And where should I extract the file to? :grin:

Thought for sure it says in the read-me but here it goes:

The Arena tweak gives foot archers in the arena a staff as well as a bow. That's all.

Just paste the mission_templates.txt file into the mod's folder folder.

Yep, forgot to give them horses.

I've also noticed troops dismounting a lot, Nords and Rhodoks as well as the Terma guys often enough (which you guys don't have) and sea raider marauders. I think the AI forces mounted troops to dismount if they make up less than a certain percent of the army or if they are smaller in number than some amount or some such, I'm not sure.

I'm diving through the code now commenting stuff out and prepping the new version for release. I will have it up shortly I hope.
 
Those Terma guys, do they keep spawning like looters or can you defeat them? Got beaten by some of them first minute i played :wink: I'll get my revenge...

They keep spawning. Early on best bet is to avoid them. The order of difficulty is:

Scout Party (not even as tough as sea raiders really)
Raiding Party (bit more serious, a little above sea raiders I would say)
War Party (Tougher than some kingdom armies if you run into one at full strength).

Terma parties tend to move slow so you can get away easy enough. War Parties need to be approached with care as all the units are higher tier.

Doh! That's the one thing I forgot to comment out were the new companion dialogues...

Alright I'm going to post a fix shortly...either a fixed version or simply a corrected string.txt document if that will work.

A new version with a fix is now up. If you don't want to download the 9 meg file again then do the following:

1) Open string.txt in the Trooptree Expansion foulder

2) modify the second line so that it reads "1282" instead of "1402"

3) Find and delete any line beginning with str_npc17, str_npc18, str_npc19, and str_npc20

Save. If you get an error launching mount and blade then you either missed a string or you didn't change the second line.

Sorry again. I really need to get someone to proofread my stuff.

Hmm now the dialogs seem a little better but still heros replies are out of sync

Recruitment dialogs seemed to be working for me. Which ones are out of Sync?

I managed to upload the wrong version. The manual fix should work. Changing the file out so that it SHOULD be the fixed version.
 
I just wanted to say this mod is great- the formations really change battles significantly sometimes; a battle I had against the Nords saw them approach me in one deadly mass of men, and upon contact with my lines they held together in a pretty lifelike manner, trying not to get isolated from their comrades while fighting. Also, the Terma party are fun to fight. When my Swadian army came across twenty or so (we had about 50), I decided to fight. On my first cavalry charge (not on level terrain), I couched lanced one of their heavily armoured infantrymen and he didn't die! In fact even when my infantry charged in, it was about twenty seconds before a soldier on either side was incapacitated. It certainly made for a refreshing battle.

EDIT: I've just been playing a bit further, and have come across a problem. When selecting a unit which can be upgraded to the next level in the party screen, there is a message in the central portion of the screen (where you  have the upgrade options e.g. ugrade to swordsman) which says unit limit reached or something to that effect (I should have written it down, sorry! I can't quite remember what it said). I've never seen this before in Native or other mods. It only started to occur after I had won a tournament and the party size limit rose from 68 to 70.

Here is some basic info on my army: Swadian, 68 out of a possible 70 men.
