Is there a number cap on how many times a troop can be promoted?

I think they can be promoted as many times as there are troops in the tree after them. The hard part is coming up with all those troops.

Just add rank numbers like:
Nord Huscarl Rank/level 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9..... :razz: (would be a lot better with new names though.. But it's quite hard to figure out some names I know...)

The easiest place to add new ranks would be at the start of the tree, before they start dividing into archer/infantry... Though, then you would have to change the stats of the others to make the new ranks fit between the recruit/tribesmen and the next...

And a thing I think you should add, is more bandit ranks...

Coming up as in equipping and giving the troop stats or coming up with ideas for weapons how they progress?

Basically all of those: there are only so many weapons and so many stats to play around with. Also you don't want so many units that they fill up the maximum unit types you can have (not sure what the limit is but after a certain point it won't let you have any more types of troop in your party).

Probably will after I finish the Terma tree and release that.

-----------------

In other news today I have succeeded in adding a companion. If I decide to keep with the additional companion idea I will probably add 4 to keep with the 2 dislike to 1 like ratio. Whether all those relationships are going to stay just within the four or whether I decide to mix and match among existing companions I haven't decided, but I think I will keep it to just the four so as not to throw off players.

First i have dialogue to write as my current stand in dialogue consists of quotes from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series.  :???:

32 I believe the max variety of troops you can bring along is.[/yoda]

On a serious note, I don't really care about weaponry and armor, better stats could compensate.
Plus you could just use ancient and modern military ranks for the names I guess  :???:.

Honestly for the purposes of this game I think things are about right. Not to say more tiers may not be added later but it won't be any 20 tiers.

I do have to draw the line somewhere and at the moment I have a bunch of other things I'm trying to get done.

If you are getting an error starting the game because it can't find "new_textures.brf" or something to that effect then do the following:

Go into the Trooptree Expansion folder and open module.ini. Find the lines:

load_resource = new_textures
load_resource = new_materials

Yea I found those but what will I do to them? delete them?

Wow I fail again.

Yes delete them. When I was copying those directions from the first post I made them in I missed the line that said to delete them. Front page updated with that vital clue now.

(I should probably cut down on the drugs.  :shock: )

I know the cataphracts were suggested, I meant a second tier of cataphracts. All the troops I suggested I'd already added into native  :grin:, it's just that I felt that I might as well give some suggestions. The Berserkers I had were horribly overpowered, they could take me down with a chop from their battle axes if I tried to charge them on horseback. Actually, all the troops were horribly overpowered...anyways, where are you going to stick the Terma faction, and are you going to stick in Battle Morale?

Well my theory on Berserkers is "they kill you quick but they go down quick too" because they wear no armor.  :wink:

The Terma faction in practice will take the role of higher level bandits for the player to deal with: (actually as they stand right now the different party types you can run into cover the whole difficulty spectrum). I am not going to try and add a separate kingdom faction. Having foreign forces on raiding missions seemed like the best tactic for creating well equipped bandits that didn't leave you scratching your head wondering "How did common outlaws get so much shiny stuff."

Battle Morale is already in there as part of the Tactics Kit.

Well all four heroes are in, now I get to play around with them some (and write dialogue...)

While I was at it, I made Lamellar armor a tad stronger since it was 10 times the price of nomad armor and weaker in every way. Its still low end.

Also added a small morale boost based on the renown of your character. Its pretty minor, roughly 1 morale per 50 renown, so no real noticeable dent till you get real famous. It seemed logical to me though that soldiers following a famous commander might be more upbeat than those following johnny no one. Haven't added it to the morale menu display yet but it is there.

I switched lamellar armour and lamellar vest. One has fabric and is up there with light mail, and one has mail under a load of plated and scales and is beneath nomad armour! I agree, the lamellar vest looks extremely sexy, but logic dictates other things. I also increased disc armour (nomad armour) to a chest defense of 30, to provide medium armour for the khergit, and because a good sized plate on a leather backing should be on par with padded leather, and decreased nomad robe to be 16/8  (Khergit now have Khergit armour at 20, nomad robe at 16/8, lamellar vest at 22/7, nomad armor at 30, Lamellar armour at 46/7 and Guard armour at 46/16)

But that is just my take on those horse-riding pain in the behinds...

Yeah I'm taking the vain cop-out and keeping the sexy armor better than the not so charming.  :mrgreen:

I'm SO going to download this when I find time....anyways, the thing about those Berserkers was they had no armor, so I could hack them down with a single chop from the massively oversized dai-katana from the Ancient Swords thingie, but they just had huge axes, 10 athletics, and 60 agility, meaning a small group of like 12 would be able to hack me down really fast. I remember the first time I tried to take them on foot...

These Berserkers have the 10 athletics, power strike, and iron flesh but their agility is whatever the average is for troops. They can take down a lot of people in one hit but they are easy to bring down as well as their only protection is hit points. They are like the Terma Greatswordsman: Best way to take them down is from horseback or from range. Also they are very rare in AI armies that I've seen since they are on the same tier as Hurscarls.
