Troop Training and Companions

Is there any manual or character tree which explains which troops can be upgraded to what etc.. or does someone know how it works?

If you leave a companion like Borcha on the map, he will wander around and get chased around and attacked. I assume that if you give him some troops he will eventually get them killed because he will be attacked by a strong force, rather than attack a weak force and make your troops stronger. I guess the only way around this is to give him the troops and tell him to go to the Four Ways Inn? Is there any chance of him getting lost or beaten up on the way?

I once saw him, by himself, being chased by about 15 dark riders... he was running as fast as he could.

I didn't realize that it's possible to give him troops. How do you do it?

You talk to him and say "I want to leave some troops with you".

It's quite handy, if you have some troops to upgrade but no free slot to upgrade them into, you can free up some slots by putting a stack in his slots (they have 6 slots or so) and them move them back when you have upgraded

I can't leave troops with either companion. When do you get the option in the dialog? I cn only tell him to wander around or wait at the inn

I think he means after you release your companion, tell him to wander around, and then talk to him.

Ahhh yes, just figured that out. Cool. Although I'd like to be able to drop soldiers as well as companions at the inn.
