"A Géorgie, pays stérile, est habitée par des cbrétiens, qui vivent pauvrement á cause des montagnes et des forêts qu'on voit partout. Le peuple, assez grossier, a pour abri des maisons de bois. Les hommes, comme les femmes, s'habillent á la persane, mais d'une manière plus confortable. Les revers du bonnet sont fourrés de martre, et l'intérieur, de peaux d'agneaux á la laine frisée ; de ce bonnet pend un capuce en guise de corne ou de manche, qui tombe sur les épaules. Le vêtement, ou casaque de soie ou d'autre étoffe a raies, est long jusqu'a mi-jambe et se croise sur le flanc gauche. Ils sont armés de l'arc avec le carquois, du cimeterre turc et d'une lance courte appelée zagaie."

The back of the cap are filled marten, and interior skins of lambs wool á curly, this cap hangs a cowl as a horn or handle, which falls on the shoulders. The garment or gown of silk or other fabric has stripes is long up knees and crosses on the left flank. They are armed with the bow with the quiver, the Turkish scimitar and a short spear called zagaie."
