Tournaments are Hella easy

I've found this to be a very profitable way to make money early game.

Seem to remember them being slightly more difficult in Warband when first starting out.

Now I've got a Camel I can't use and some named weapons.

They can be easier or harder than Warband, because everyone uses their own armor. If you have really good armor you'll be almost invincible, but if you wind up in a duel with a hero/lord/companion that has late game armor when you've just started you can fail to do enough damage to flinch them through their armor, getting hit by their attacks anyway.

True.

That said I'm using armour I've taken off of bandits apart from a helmet I bought.

Guess I've been lucky so far? Usually fighting elite Empire troops in the final as that's where I'm situated at the moment.

Part of me does like the whole Warband "everyone in same armour" thing.

I find it roughly the same difficulty as the Warband tournaments, to be honest. Granted I only have experience in Battanian tournaments so far, but in theory those should be much easier for me than elsewhere because my character is built as a bow/two-hander fighter and Battanian tournaments only give bow/two-hander loadouts.

Sometimes I have a really easy time of it. I breeze through the opening fights and end up dueling an AI 1v1 that I can easily defeat.

Other times I find myself stopped cold and have to try the tournament over and over to progress (save scumming for practicing the combat mostly) because the early matches give me a bunch of Battanian militia against a team of Fian and named characters. My team gets obliterated no matter what I do.

And sometimes the final battle has me facing down with a guy in way better armor than me that has maxed out two-handed skill and is just way more mechanically faster than I am.

So they aren't exactly free money. Winnable early game which makes them a great source of early game income, renown, and armor/weapons just like Warband tournaments are but still able to screw you with sheer RNG and stats.

I legit won about 30 tournaments. in my first few hours of gameplay. My question is, the tournaments don't seem to be a special occasion like they were in Warband, they seem to just cycle around the same towns constantly.

Well then clearly you're some sort of god at this game because I can't beat the tournaments consistently with the sort of armor I have access to early on. I've done whole playthroughs of Warband where I did nothing but go from tourney to tourney. These don't feel any easier than the Warbands tournaments did. Though the Battanian ones have less uneven matches due to not using horses. I dunno if that is true for other regions.

And yah, the tournaments are a lot more frequent. I think because each faction has their own independent tourney schedules where as in Warband the cycle was global, so you had to go from faction to faction. Now I can do a tourney almost every few days just by going from town to town in Battania, which is the smallest starting faction.

Tournament frequency is a different issue from tournament difficulty, though. I find the currently difficulty to be fine. At least for early game.

I've been playing realism campaign lately and havent won a single tournament. Try playing harder difficulties and advanced AI from options.
Give it a try.

This... If your winning so easily you have your settings wrong.

Put the AI on Good and use full realism settings. You'll be fighting an opponent and take an arrow to the dome and instantly be dead. I win some tournies, and I lose some.

I've won like 20 and I'm playing on full realism. The key is to switch to first person during 1 on 1s, and gank the highest level troops in the group rounds.

The tournament difficulty is fine. I just suck at tournaments for the simple reason that I have **** gear and low proficiencies and always end up against some lord or tournament god in the later stage of the tournament. What really needs to change imo is the rate in which you gain experience.

It depends on the tournament itself. When I play Vlandia tournaments I win 95% of time. If I go to another tournaments where ranged weapons are more used i lose like 50%.

One factor is that the stat bonuses given from skills are borderline negligible; That lord with 200 two handed skill does like, 15% more damage then you with your 20 skill. In warband you start out swinging your weapon slow as **** for low damage, but in Bannerlord you come out the gate basically as effective as anyone. The only real advantage they have is better armor, if you only get a one handed sword it can be difficult to kill a guy with high armor.

Seems I'm the only one struggling with tournaments (but I admit I'm not a good player x) )

Same here. Full realism. Win some, lose more. Like it should be.

I have yet to see a tournament. I usually stay around the Khanat area. Is there a special icon on top of the town at the campaign map (these little symbols are great, to see how man parties are currently in said location etc. I hope this gets expanded upon)? Do tournaments show up in the town screen, or only if you go to the arena? Or are there some notifications in the bottom left that tell you where they are?

Nope, I think I've only lost when I was left 1v4 at the end and even that was close. There are ways to cheese the AI a little. Block ranged units line of sight, and circle around the melee guys.

You can go to the Arena and ask someone if there will be tournaments nearby. Unlike Warband there always is tournaments on. Also it would be good to bypass this altogether and just have towns display in their Overworld UI that a tournament is on.

Ta, Mate. The game has so many things and features that I have not yet even clicked on the Arena!

I hope we can get different tornaments. Like in the tutorial the run with the vases. It was amazing. This race against 3 opponents, I hope we get a lot more stuff for the arena, not only fighting

I just hope they won't force the same tournament equipment on everyone again.

This way you can get lucky or you get ****ed in the first (or more bad, last) round.

Sad enough you can't train your fighting skill here (what makes zero sense) but at least they are fun.
