Tournament colors hardly visible (esp. Khudan)

Hi all,
have just done a tournament in Khudan. Geeez! It's extra hard to distinguish team colors!
It was already so in Native but in this mod colors are less vivid and closer to each other.
I have a perfect color perception in real life but here in game it's often very hard to point out at first sight friend from foe. If you actually look at them for a short while and while moving slowly you can clearly see. But in fast movement and at a distance often the light is so that colors blend into each other.

Khudan is the worst arena in this. The light is so (and am talking daylight, not dawn or dusk) that the side in shadow of an enemy is very dark. So impossible to distinguish if blue / red / black.

I tried changing gamma of course but no use. Is there a way to change this? Change texture shades? I would appreciate directions on how to do it...
and my team mates would appreciate too because when am given a bow they get as many arrows as the enemy get...

Get over it. Look at the helmets, shields and surcoats. Its enough.

mmmmmmm I'll give it another try. Seems unnecessarily hard though. Uniforms were made to stand out. Consider that often happens to join tournaments at dawn or dusk too.

EDIT: i did two tournaments (Reyvadin & Khudan) paying more attention at shields / helms / surcoats. But no, it's not enough. At least for me.
May be screen size (800x600) or monitor (17" CRT) but:
helm colors are just too tiny to be seen at a distance. Coat colors blend into each other.
Shields do prove effective even far away but:
1- not all opponents (and allies) have shields
2- all shields are the same seen from behind.

Of course am not asking to change the mod. If I could edit my own install it would be helpful though.
Thank you.

I don't think I've ever had trouble distinguishing team colors in tournaments; they're pretty vivid.

My biggest tournament issue (aside from no melee weapons for archers) is occasionally forgetting what color my team is.  Since you start each round with a different color, I periodically find myself swinging my weapon at a friendly participant.  Nick, can you please code in a more reliable player memory and greater situational awareness? Thanks.

I've never had problems in tournaments distinguishing colours. I have however, occasionally forgot what my colour is. But that sort of coding is probably quite difficult to change because you have to add in a whole section of code on making the colours stay the same etc...

Also never had that problem with the colours... Sometimes forget which colour is mine during second and third round, but without effect. Last two tournament losses were caused by other aspects. Lost 2 times in a row in the final fight ... one time on foot I cut his horse and in the same moment he cut me, and the other time had a bow, he with shield and I missed the right moment to fire, game over.  :???:

hehe, I guess something's wrong on my monitor? dunno.
Anyway I have problems with it and would like to fix that (for myself). Meanwhile it will be interesting to learn a little bit about how textures can be changed.
So far I have installed the plugin for .dds files in my Paint Shop Pro 9 folder (no PS on this pc).
I edited file "arena_tunicG.dds" in the M&B1011/Textures folder. That should work for Native, not L & R, right?
But that's ok to start I guess.
I saved the image with 'use existing MIP maps' option. All other options are as default.
I reloaded the game after the change.
Still in game textures aren't changed. Green team shows just the usual tunic. I wonder where it really gets the info from.
It would be helpful to know which file(s) should be edited in L&R to alter the tournament textures. Thank you.

You should totally post a screenshot of your difficulties so people can understand better the problems you're having.

Retexturing is basically a matter of overwriting some files in the textures folder with new ones. If you wanted brighter clothes, all you would have to do is open up the .dds and add a bit of contrast and save it again.

(You would need a program like GIMP with the .dds add-on to do this).

But again yeah - screenshot up your problem so everyone can see how it might be improved.

Well. I can understand there might be some problems since you only have 800x600 resolution and 17" CRT monitor. I play with 1680x1050 and I can see all the shield markings etc. from the other side of the arena. I can think of what it is with your resolution.

What I suggest to you is to change tactics. You can command you team mates in tournaments like you can in battles. Just told them to follow you, put them into battle line and hold you ground. If you have a bow just help the guys in melee by shooting arrows from behind them and when somebody falls, try to secure a melee weapon from him. It's easier to distinguish friends when you keep them close (and your enemies closer).

EDIT: And by the way, pressing shift to zoom the view in will help you too. I thought people stopped using 800x600 reso about 10 years ago.

I can see where you get mixed up, the colors are rather similar in most cases. I've never had the issue though seeing as my method revolves around if they come at me, kill them.
