Totally unfair... (Tale of a solo Hunter)

Well seeing I'm still on the demo until I organise the use of someones CC I've been giving myself some goals to keep it fun...

My latest character is a Hunter specialising in horse archery... Dang it's lethal now i got the hang of ranged combat...

My goal was to go it solo and try to finish the river pirate quest..
2 weeks of roaming the counryside taking on these foul thugs either by myself or by throwing myself into battles against them I finally came close to succeeding.. (96% or one group left)
Sure enough, halfway through the last batte the dreaded "you have reached level 6" pops up... Not fair... (pout)

But heck it was a fun game, give it a go and let us know here how many river pirate bands you manage to dispatch (solo) before reaching level 6...

Here are my stats:

10 days - 24 river pirate bands

Rules:

New character.
Must complete training.
Must solo.
Must kill at least one pirate personally per battle.
Game over as soon as level 6 is reached. (the battle where lvl 6 is reached does NOT count towards total.

Good luck and have fun.. :)

Sounds kinda fun, but do you get anything when you kill 100% pirates? I've never done it only got to 42% or so, but I wonder if you get some ultra uber prize? I cheated before and saw where they spawn so you can just hold down space and camp there waiting for em 100 times.. might get boring :?

Waiting for them 100 times won't work because you will level past 6 way before then when soloing...
Trick is to find battles in progress with them, or as i did lure them into some other wandering troops and then joining the fun...

Also looking at more under 6 chalenges to play for the next few days... by thursday I should be playing full on.. yay...

If you want to know what happens when you beat all pirates...

you could buy the game. :)

Or if you beg hard enough someone might tell you.

Jarrah, if you'd read the whole thread, you would have seen that someone has already answered that.. :)
Although it's not about knowing what happens when you kill them, the thread is about squeezing a bit more fun out of having only 6 levels, until one buys the full licence...
:)

for $12 i dont see why more people havnt bought full license. if you like the game enough to post threads like this about an indie game i dont see how $12 for a game that theoretically will only get better with time (unlike commercial games that tend to get worse with patching as time goes on) could be a bad move :)

I totally agree with you mate, and as I mentioned I should have my full licence by the end of the week, the problem being access to a CC...
This thread wasn't really about just the demo anyway, the challenge can be just as easliy be done with a full version... It was simply about milking just that little bit more fun out of limited play... setting own goals seeing that currently there aren't that many in the game to perform low level... A bit like the ironman rules people came up with for diablo (2)
Also coz I think a freeform game like M&B isn't restricted to being led by the nose by the game about what to do next, half the fun is setting your own goals.. Believe it or not, there are players out there that come into a game like this (freeform) and go 'what next, i'm bored'...

I actually just spent the whole night (it's now 9am) playing a merchant, first running round trading and then working to build a troop of 24 Knights... (and I'm still level 3 due to avoiding combat myself) Just goes to show that the level restriction isn't really all that bad if you avoid experience points.. lol

8) A solo hunter is realy too strong, find a high place, make sure there are more than 50 arrows and a bow in pack .than aim the enemies. you will find it is easy,if the enemy close enough ,you can kill enemy with only one arrow, just aim the head.you will find you can hit over 80.
in 3days i reach the lv limit,i cant test how strong the archer is,but i am sure the archer with no horse is the most powerful solo class. in the 3 days i killed over 70 river pirates. and i have over 10k money
of course this have some problems, one of the problems is you will not have any prisoners

Strongest solo class is probably court lady. Getting a spirited courser is amazing.

I like that horse even more than a spirited charger when facing cav. Add a lance and you are almighty. The xbow is also nice and the water steel dagger is a decent backup.

I don't bother taking on river pirates anymore. I prefer hunting mountain bandit groups of 50. Or swadian scouts.
