Too many women on the battlefield!

I'm noticing waaaaaaaay too many women nobles leading armies. And whats worse is they dont even have combat equipment like armor or weapons.. they just run around the battlefield in a dress punching things. And often getting killed.

So beyond the immersion breaking nature of this, it kills the population of the game world off in like 2 generations. My current playthrough has a whole bunch of dead/dying clans getting erased because their women died before producing heirs.

Woke 2020 aside, there was good reason to keep your women locked up in a castle in the olden times... so that your baby-makers arent off punching dudes in heavy armor who happen to have swords.

Yeah, they need to mobilize the children too. Pampered education is not a replacement for battlefield experience.
But I guess Taleworlds is too woke to let children murder people with their little fists.

Not gonna lie. That image instills fear within me.

Anyway, yeah I agree. Many of those women are not even combat ready.

It's a fantasy world. I personally have no problem with women on the battlefield. I am sure there are mods you can use to rebalance the ratio, if you find it irritating.

Bring on the shieldmaidens!

oh so now just bcs 1 woman or like shiled maidens that were ususlay in war mostly as a last reort befor ethe camp gets sacked to the ground.Just cbs of that one thing that happens in extremly small nober no we must go and fill the game with women like they were always there all the time everywhere,on every battle.well they were but usualy as concubines/escorts and depending on the period as cooks, medical staff.Having 1 woman/100 in a 10000-50000-100000 men does not automaticaly make sit so that battles have 50-50 male to female ratio or mroe woman than dudes.

Dude, Calradia is a fantasy world, it is also just a game. Relax. I worry about you. Personally I like the women in the game. There are plenty of women in Final Fantasy, as well.

Focus on the topic. OP is talking about the problems caused by women leading armies. They die and their clan gets wiped off. There are some solutions to this, but I think the best is to not make women lead an army until they have a child. It solves that no-heir problem without removing the "women leading armies" thing.

Spare me all the nonsense that comes with any discussion about women in a history-themed game. I don't care for western politics.

I agree. Bannerlord might take place in an artificially created world, for the sake of bringing many different cultures together in one place, but its supposed to be very close to reality, hence we have no dragons and wizards. Everything unrealistic that doesen't serve the purpose of gameplay experience has no place in Bannerlord. Its obviously even damaging the gameplay experience and immersion, so there really isn't any reason whatsoever to keep it like that.

You should suggest "Bannerlord should be a patriarchy simulator"
Did you really write this..

seemed appropriate.
It is.

Best answer +1.

Come on guys, dont reduce it to that catchphrase. It just makes it seem like we are mysogynists who dont like woman in games, which is not true. I am a huge fan of realism in games, especially medieval ones and its hard to find them, since everyone seemingly wants dragons and wizards. I am especially a fan of bannerlord, because it creates a really good immersive medieval environment for me and I want it to stay that way. There is no reason whatsoever why the amount of woman in Bannerlord should be more than in Warband, it doesent serve the purpose of gameplay experience in any way, so it does nothing more than reducing the amount of realism, immersion and obviously even causes problems.

Women should be protected for their own good to sit at home and be baby making machines. Sounds like a patriarchy simulator to me.

I didn't comment on whether I thought it was a good idea or not, that was your assumption. As for misogynists... Again, you said it, not me.

I haven't encountered any problem with mass die-offs of clans due to women participating in combat. If such a problem exists, I think the Devs can come up with some inventive tweaks to the existing arrangement to have them survive a bit better, without having them all stay at home.

The vast majority of soldiers on the field in this game are male and the inclusion of an unusually high number of lordly Boudica, Joan of Arc, Queen Fu Hao, Queen Nzinga Mbande, Queen Amanirenas, Queen Yaa Asantewaa, Rani Laxmibai, Queen Artemisia l, Queen Mavia, Queen Mandukhai Khatun, Queen Arachidamia, Queen Yennenga, Queen Tomyris, Cynane, Olympias, Eurydice, Queen Teuta, Triệu Thị Trinh, Zenobia, etc... -like warrior women in the game world all at once, for the sake of inclusion seems fair to me to bring them together in this fictional world.

I personally like the inclusion of women in the game in this manner and do not find that it breaks the immersive feel at all.

I'd suggest levying a heavier than usual penalty for the execution of female prisoners. This and a tweaking of their chance to die in combat should solve the issue of rapid die offs.

Its worth remembering that noble bloodlines frequently did die off without heirs and clans were purposefully wiped out historically. Even having a young heir was no guarantee that your line would survive, because other ambitious individuals would plot the death of them and seek to replace them.

I would like to see such assassination plots be an option in the game. It would be interesting to plot the death of the current king and your own families rise to power, in a Machiavellian play through.

The wiki list of fantasy fighters with (Joan at the helm) who never fought in a battle in her life has made its appearance once again. Zenobia? Lol.... right.

Honestly i don't care much about this, Calradia has it's own rules and customs though would be cool if it was tied to the law system with different kingdoms having different laws about this (and more meaningful things instead of 1 security or 2% income lol)

Also it would make sense if normally the game prioritized male clan members to lead armies while female clan members would focus more on governing fiefs to be more historically accurate, exceptions could be made for the small amount of shieldmaidens in each faction (the female nobles with kickass combat skills) with the excuse of them being prodigies.

That's as far as i would go, no hard locking but a soft preference if there are no available males (dead or under-aged for example) then women would be chosen to lead their clan armies.
