lol i go down in 3 good hits with normal damage. i have all lordly plate armor. try fighting on ground. it just makes the game so much more fun. you won't regret it.

Well, about mods...
I bet the player will only have less than 10 of those knights in his entire game because of the enormous amount of Xp needed to upgrade.

You´re dead wrong on this one Lord Leoric. Actually, it´s pretty easy to farm them if you know how to. But that´s just the same as in native although PoP is a way more balanced and long term motivating than vanilla. On the ohter hand, I haven´t finished a single game in both

I tried that once on 60% diff, and thought that i can kill at least half of them... I didn't scratch anyone. What a shame...

Currently Im a level 36 badass with eight >30 level companions plus 30 men strong and Im running away from 360 men party. I tried engaging them twice on different terrain and it ended in tears.

I solo attacked 27 Sea Rapers at level 5 armed with a lance and balanced sabre...It was tough going, but I triumphed.

I'd say those kind of battles are not too easy, in fact - They are just right!

Well, for me personally - I find upwards of 20 sea raiders a challenge when at a low level...
I'm sure you are so spectacular a player that you can plow through such odds at level one!
But sadly I am a mere mortal...

I reckon my bird must attract the wrath of these Sea Rapers, hence their extra efforts to kill me.

I would assume what he's referring to is that the game starts off hard and gets progressively easier, to the point it's way too easy eventually. Seriously, how many people ever finish a game? You reach a point relatively early where every battle is a guaranteed win.

As to difficulty settings - normal can be a challenge for the first month or so of a game, but eventually it still becomes too easy. Fights all come down to movement and weapon speed. Once you can move and swing faster than the enemy (around 8 athletics and 400 weapon skill in most mods) you can solo whole armies, on normal settings.

Here is the winner.

High athletics/riding makes the game super easy because the AI cant handle fast movement, if you want (some) challenge stop your combat skills (like power draw/riding/athletics etc) at 4 and put the rest of the points to charisma and intelligence, a whole different experience.

I myself have mostly just used charisma/intelligence-characters, and I've slowly but steadily reduced the number of cavalry in my typical army. I've found standing with an all-infantry army on a hilltop, waiting for the enemy's formation to attack you, is a fun experience in its own way. You don't have to be a mighty warrior to enjoy fighting a battle.

I wish that the Factions evolved as time went. Giving a more balanced playthrough.

Well, you can try the Sword of Damocles mod. The invasion introduces a new faction mid-way through the game. The new faction is mostly a mob though. Over 9,000 units in 81 different parties, not including Auxiliri parties, patrols, and armed caravans. Individually, the units aren't particularly impressive, but you can edit them as you like. And you can change the invasion date. There's also a zombie version.
