Quite true. This was even true of samurai, despite popular belief. Only in cases where something they did stained their family's honor (and their idea of "honor" was very different from ours) would seppuku be a thing that cleared their heir's reputation. Otherwise, it would've simply hurt them.

Yess, I remember taking my life only to realize all my vassals hate ME because of what my father did. Then I realized my mistake, lol

It could be as simple as giving your heir a nasty renown hit as soon as you take over, and maybe loosing a bit of relation with your vassals.
