Most modules will download as a zip or rar file. Usually you simply need to extract the folder into Mount & Blade's "Modules" folder. Once extracted, you can choose which mod to play (Native is the default) on the pre-launch splash screen.
Mods utilise an entirely different set of save slots to native, so you don't need to worry about them interfering with your existing games. Thanks to Mount & Blade's design, switching between the original game or a mod is as simple as clicking the name on a drop down list!
The following are some of the excellent mods produced by the M&B community. You can find much more in our released mods board or at the Mount & Blade modding community MBX
Enjoy, and if you see something you like, don't forget to drop in and let the mod team know!
The world of Corna is in turmoil. The Trolls have launched a devestating invasion into the land of the Humans and the Elves, crossing the great sea of Nemunas in a vast armada. Crushing the humans before them, over half of the continent has now fallen to the Trolls and their allies. Desperately seeking to repulse the invasion, the remaining human kingdoms have formed an alliance and are intent on holding off the invasion at the river Seco. Their success and survival depends on whether they can convince the Elven kingdoms to join the struggle.
Into this conflict you are thrust. Will you rally the human and elves against their Trollish foe, or will you be the blade that leads the Trolls and Orcs to ultimate victory?
Main Features
Four playable races - Trolls, Elves, Humans and Orcs. All with unique face animations and textures
Awesome new mounts. Ride into battle on a lizard, tiger, bear, boar or even a rhino!.

What's going on?
War has taken the land. Armies of unprecidented size are busy slaughtering, and all on account of a single death. While the heir to the Swadian throne was away campaigning in the Vaegirhold, his uncle, Harlaus the Usurper assassinated his father. Nearly the entire Swadian Kingdom joined Harlaus, but Zendar remained loyal to the prince, and the Vaegirs were quickly willing to forgive him and join his cause. Simultaneously, the rural populace of the Zendar river area grew tired of their poverty and revolted, sweeping accross the land in huge numbers. An all out civil war resulted, pitting every faction against every other and dealing out mayhem. You as the player will command the armies of the ousted prince and lead your cause to either victory or defeat in the plains and cities of Calradia through every hardship Harlaus may throw your way.
Features:
Realistic battlefield strategy with a number of new orders
Vastly improved siege system with capturable towns and destructable gates, etc.
Complex war system which allows global strategy for complete victories and defeats
Dynamic plotline that depends on the player's actions.
Plunder enemies directly off the battlefield
Built in battlesizer to increase the scale of battles.

Setting:
By the middle of the 11th century, Islamic Sicily, conquered from the Byzantines two century earlier, has broken into a half-dozen squabbling emirates. Duke Robert "the Cunning" of Apulia has led his quarrelsome Norman vassals on an invasion of the northeast. A Byzantine force has established a foothold along the coast and is trying to push inland. The wealthiest island in the Mediterranean will be the prize for whoever can best unify his own faction and exploit the divisions among the others.
Features currently implemented:
* A strategic system with extensive non-player party AI which attempts to simulate a medieval war of attrition. Loot villages, seize isolated castle outposts, guard trade routes, and assist your liege on climactic sieges of the enemy towns.
* A dynamic economic system in which goods move from town to town according to supply and demand. Disruption of trade routes can lead to financial crisis, and the collapse of a province.
* Historically accurate equipment (to the best of my ability to tell) for 11th century Normans, Greeks, Arabs and Berbers, with meshes provided by a number of skilled modelers
Features to be implemented:
* An extensive political system, where you may plot with your fellow vassals against an overlord who has proven an ineffective war leader, or who does not sufficiently reward his faithful followers. Religion, peasant unrest, and other factors will also be modeled.
* Sea trade and limited naval combat
* Quite a few other ideas, in various stages of development

The object of this mod to make small adjustments, add fixes and features to the Native M&B without significantly altering the gameplay and balance, keeping the original spirit of Calradia intact.
Mod replaces non-realistic dark and bluish steel textures of Native with new shiny and much more realistic ones.
This applies to ALL steel textures including weapons, horses, shields etc.
Realistic Steel Textures 2.0 for v.951
- Add environment map to all plate armor , shields , weapons and helms .
- New diffuse and specular textures for all other steel staff .
- New textures for heraldic staff .
- Many other improvements .
REQUIREMENTS:
For full effect you must be running on the DirectX9 render with pixel shaders enabled..
Important Note (!):
This replaces some of the textures in native, so the only way to uninstall the mod is to uninstall M&B.

Story: After years of bloodshed, the Kingdom of Rhodoks were eliminated by the Swadians. The Swadians used their new resources to launch an attack on the Kingdom of Vaegirs, and sure enough, the Vaegirs succumed to the Swadians' power. Continuing on their conquest, they began attacking the Kingdom of Nords, using their vast numbers of soldiers and their advanced technology to wipe them out. Almost. But the Kingdom of Nords had sent word back to the Nordic island, asking for reinforcements.
But it was too late. Konungr Olaf, a man from a land even farther North, had already taken over the Nordic island. The letter arrived to him, and, hearing about more land to conquer, readied his ships and set sail for Calradia.
The Khergits, in the meantime, hed decided to retreat from Calradia, forseeing what would become of them. Back over the mountains, they found hundreds of small colonies, small tribes, some larger and more advanced than others. The large Khergit armies easily gained control of these tribes, assembling a mighty Empire. It was then they decided to attempt to resettle Calradia.
But these men from the North brought soldiers unlike any other seen in Calradia. They made the hardy Nordic Huscarls look like children, able to run over any terrain all day, fight all night, then continue on the very next day. The Swadians, (who now referred to themselves as "Calradians") fearing the power of these Northmen, began to retreat away from the coastline. And with the Khergits attacking from the south... It was sure to be bloody.
The 1257 Edition - Authentic Factions and Equipment
------------------------------------------------------------
The 1257 Edition of Mount & Blade is a realism mod that grounds the game's original setting more firmly in the history behind its starting date, 1257 A.D. The factions have been thoroughly remodelled and new graphics added, with an emphasis on quality rather than quantity. Revised and expanded for the commercial version of Mount & Blade (1.011). Now with covered warhorses and hi-res map textures.
Features:
* Equipment of all troops, civilians and NPCs adjusted to reflect the High Medieval period
* More authentic-looking and more interesting factions
* Authentic knightly tournaments
* Emphasis on individual heraldry
* Specific items to mark your status as a faction lord
* Period-accurate helm models
* New textures added, and hidden models activated to expand the range of shields, helmets, surcoats and other armor
* New banners for the Swadian, Northern and Vaegir factions, based on heraldic principles
* Three new knight companions to recruit
* Extensive editing of in-game text to fit the setting (and correct mistakes)

SPADES!!!
Loads of new dialogue, most of it stupid, and lots more to come...
George Square
This is a skeleton playing a trumpet. Because I can.
Strathclyde Police Headquarters. Their motto is: "If You Can't Beat Them, Why Join The Polis?"
FEATURES: Glasgow - a modern-day Scottish city to riot in.
All new scenes, mostly urban, and now with moving trains and vans.
MOVING TRAINS AND VANS.
MOVING TRAINS. AND VANS.
Three Factions:
United Workies: - Incensed by increasing job cuts and wage reductions while cheap labour is imported from abroad, these
nutjobs have turned the tools of their former trades to a new purpose - attacking the State which has attacked their livelihoods, and protecting their own interests.
PREFERRED WEAPONS: Planks, nailguns, circular saw-blades, fireman's axes, and hammers of all shapes and sizes.
Strathclyde Police: - Worried by the upsurge of violent civil unrest in Glesga, these famously pacifistic guardians of the peace
have responded to the needs of the people in the only way they know how - by breaking out the firearms and the heavy-duty riot gear. And, of course, the horses. But they're not ALL bad... You might ocassionally see them fighting the illegal SPG Snatch Squads sent up by Special Branch in London. Even cops have turf wars.
PREFERRED WEAPONS: While the lower ranks are confined to using clubs and cudgels, the firearms units have the best guns in the game - sniper rifles, pistols, and riot-shotguns. The Riot Cops themselves are a formidable force, so heavily armoured that their attack can hit like a mounted charge. And that's before the Mounted Cops turn up.
The Penny Mob: - In a highly unrealistic move, all the Glasgow gangs have amalgamated into one mega-gang,
taking their name from Billy Fullerton's old mob. This is about as likely as an upswing in the economy, but who cares? Though not as disciplined as the Polis, or as hardy as the Workies, The Mob have hidden strengths - they're ****in' mental.
PREFERRED WEAPONS: Having no scruples about the damage they might do to their enemies, the Penny Mob favour machetes, two-handed axes, and heavy hammers. Generally lacking in firearms, you might find the odd upcoming gangster wielding a modified flare gun or ... a broom. But the higher ranks have access to weapons brought in from overseas - AK47s and Walthers.
The NEDS should be counted as a faction all of their own. These irritating, pointlessly violent arseholes will hound you all across Glasgow so long as you're weak, and then run from you like little girls if you gather a half-decent mob. Realism.
OTHER FEATURES:
New World Map, Random Battle Maps, Bridge Maps, And Many New Scenes.
A Ton of New Dialogue and Audio.
Quests can be gotten from Bouncers in Pub Carparks, and from Nosey Gossiping Bastards in Towns.
All New Towns and Castles Are Siegeable And Capturable. You Can WIN!

The First stage Of A Planned Storyline.
Shagging.
Aye...
The majority of the guns were created by Geroj, who is an amazing modeller and texturer.
The majority of the music was created by Adorno, who has never been to Glasgow, but somehow knew the exact sounds I needed.
I owe a debt of gratitude to HokieBT for his advice on codes and general modding, to cdvader, who has shown me how to remove the unused towns for the next version, and to Herby for suggestions and help, and tips on new whiskies to try.
BUGS/ GLITCHES: -
IF YOU SEE KLEPTO IN THE PUB, DO NOT TALK TO HER. HER DIALOGUE IS DESIGNED FOR A SPECIFIC SCENE WHERE SHE WILL APPEAR. BE PATIENT< AND YOU WILL EVENTUALLY GET TO RECRUIT HER> THOUGH SHE IS A PRETTY **** FIGHTER>
