Hi all,

Quite deep now into my game (Day 330, I'm trying to Raid Swadia's Capital to wipe them out, and the other nations still there...DK's not activated yet )

But recently been starting to get problems with my army deserting me due to my high army size.  I know that I could just store some of my men in castles/town, but I prefer to always be near my full limit of troops in the field!

Here's my stats so far:

Character Renown: 1200
Honor Rating: 84
Party Morale: 28
Party Size Limit: 305

Base Morale: +50
Party Size: -169
Leadership: +70
Food Variety: +41
Recent Events: +28
Total: 28

Any tips on keeping my troops morale high?  I'm always stocked with food too.

- Keep a good food variety
- Gain reknown
- Gain leadership (don't forget to buy the book)
- Be a King (maybe you already are)

- Engage any Bandit party you encounter (that's "recent events")
The smaller your army, the greater your morale gain.
So: Garrison your troops in one of your castles and go chase a Bandit Party with only a few men. That will boost your party morale. Then come and take back your men.

Last but not least:
- Reduce the size of your army
Tell one of your Companions to form a raiding party.
Give him as many men as you can, keep the most elite/precious ones for you.
Tell your Companion Lord to stay in a safe place when you don't need his army.
Tell him to follow when you need men for a siege.

Thanks for the tips.

I noticed that keep having regular battles boosts morale.

The problem with compaignions are that they are very fickle.

For example I'm trying to Raid Praven with one of my companions, I use the follow function and he does follow...but then wanders off when a hostile comes near

I can access the elite troops now for Swadia...how many do you recommend in my army for just roaming around on the map?

If no DKs are around, around 100-150 is enough to give any enemy up to three times your number an ass-whooping. Depends on your troop tier composition too, if it's all high-tier troops you probably could get away with much less.

That's what I do: 30 or 40 top-tier units (companions included). I always bring at least 10 or 20 upgradable units with me, though.

If you want to fight some bandits, just bring a few good cavalry. Bandits will be lured by your small party size, and will attack you. But the fight will be over in 20 seconds.

Thanks for the tips.

I now roll with 90 troops, which consist of 5 companions (for the party skills), around 20 cavaliers, and around 65 with a mixture of the Paladin line (mostly Crusader Knights now - but got my first Templar Squire last night!  damn they take looooong to train).

I can easily run through anything up to 4 times my size with maybe just getting 1 or 2 wounded (but haven't tried with DK's yet).

Hopefully gonna get a party of 85 with all from the Paladin line and live in hope will get the fabled Knight Templar soon.
