The most you get out of your investments does not reach nearly 20,000 a week let alone 100k I said 3 of the cities offer a better return as in more money than putting the silk and dye weavery so yeah we do have different ideas on long term return if you are careful and actually look before just blindly setting up shop you can make more money long term.  Yet again the thread is about early game and in the early game money doesn't grow on trees.

You misunderstand, my friend... when I referred to "long term", I meant over the life of the investment. Most games last a significant amount of time. During that time while your dyeworks are churning out 500+ denars per week, you can easily recoup 100k per dyeworks -- as long as you set them up quickly during the early game phase. The sooner the better. That's why this is relevant to the early game discussion we are having here, and also why I said that my lazy thinking usually works out in the end for me. In the long run, meaning until the end of the game, that small difference of paying slightly more for a dyeworks vs. other kinds of businesses is a drop in the bucket.

I am not disagreeing with your point that in some selected towns, a dyeworks is not the absolute best business you can start. Ethos is a shining example of where my lazy thinking can steer somebody wrong. But everywhere else, as far as I am concerned, a dyeworks is good enough. If you use "build dyeworks everywhere except Ethos" as a rule of thumb, you can't go wrong.

In Janos my Dyeworks always do some bad bussnis.
They give like 100 denar
Even had a moment that it gave -800 :O.
So i just build a bakkery there XD
I like to have my own winery somewhere, helps with rune weapon.

Y'know I don't get the obsession with rune weapons. Yes they are incredibly fast but at the cost of 3 qualis gems all up for one weapon it seems a bit much, the weapon reach is also a little short. Best bows are Noldor or the D'shar heritage bow, and the tempered rune sword which shows up in the Laria tavern merchant and occasionally in shops is just as good.

Isn't there a weapon that does piercing damage that absolutely destroys anything it hits? I think it's the ruby variant. I'm pretty sure the tempered runesword won't do that. From what I've read the upgraded rune weapon will be better in that area of expertise than anything else.

ruby rune axe absolutely destroys anything you can reach. I got one on my first or second playthrough. But I agree that the price is quite steep. You can get pretty good results with just a morningstar at a much cheaper cost.

I know the sword is really something but 3 gems? I'd rather take 3 potions and use a doom mace anyway. Since you are the most effective warrior on the field in most circumstances I'd rather make bucket loads of cash out of it.

You gave one gem to see the place. So if you are going to turn strange bow given by god to a rune bow or intented to have some other rune weapons later in the game then price is 2 gems or between 2 and 3 gems more preciesly. But even if it is 3 gems for me it is absolutly worth it. Nothing make the same difference as having my two handed ruby rune sword.

Both Noldor and D'shar bow are just flat out worse than Saphire Rune Bow. Duskfall has 1 point more accuracy and 4 points more damage, but loses on weapon and projectile speed to Saphire. Pretty much every other bow is too inaccurate. For horse archers who like riding close to shoot things, Ruby bow will serve best as the reduced accuracy doesn't matter that much when you gallop next to your target anyway and it has the best damage (50), so you'll kill most things even with a body shot, but it's pretty terrible at sieges where you want the pinpoint accuracy of Duskfall / Saphire to pop those heads from a distance.

If you're making a dedicated archer character, then I would definately use the 3 guaranteed Qualis gems at the start to get Saphire bow. The game has a definate lack of mid game viable bows, while there's umpzillion melee weapons to pick from, lacking maybe only in the blunt section.

I have a dedicated archer/blunt weapons character in most games and a Noldor bow with 300 archery can accurately take down targets at very very long range. If I know the only purpose of the gem to see the place is to spend 2 more gems to get the weapon then very accurately the spending is 3 gems. I'm sure the sapphire bow is better my point was that to me its not that much better and I can happily get by on full difficulty without it. Admittedly I don't bother with horse archery much.

I have to second the Noldor bow being "good enough" here... in fact, it's so OP it's ridiculous. Don't get me started on the gem bows. Noldor bows, even the cracked and most degraded kind, are like laser-guided machine guns when you have a middling level of archery (100-200), and after you hit 300+, it is completely retarded. Getting the PD of 6 requirement to use a noldor bow is not any kind of difficulty if you create your character right... you can start with a 17 STR at level 1 if you choose the right options, so at level 2 you can be using the noldor bow! LEVEL 2! But where can you find one? Hire Lethaldiran, take all his stuff, and then fire him. Congrats... you just got a noldor bow+arrows and longsword, and if you sell the rest of his equipment, you can mostly recoup that 6000 denars it cost to get him. His noldor ranger armor sells for a lot.

There's a good tip for getting a leg up on early game... make a dedicated archer character, get Lethaldiran's stuff at level 2, and now you pwn everybody in sight.
