I couldn't find out what cabbage stands for in heraldry, unfortunately. The torn banner can be implemented in-game, as I put an alpha channel on it. It will look torn in-game as well. As for the shields, the larger one isn't mandatory to use in any way, but the smaller one is designed to go into signatures. If I were to make the banner small enough to fit into a sig, it would be so small that you couldn't make out the details.

I just have to ask, how do you make it, the heraldic shield and the other text and drawings in your sig?, are you drawing it by hand or in photoshop or both?

I'm thinking of making a big sig instead of having several unmatching ones, but I'm going with a runic theme instead of heraldry.

I don't draw by hand very often, because I frankly suck at that. I use mostly photoshop, yes, but I don't usually make anything myself with it. Why should I? The internet is full of clipart and images of heraldic charges and patterns.

But I can't always find what I need in a convenient, lineart form. That's when I use Inkscape, a free vector graphics editor. It has a useful feature to make a vector trace out of an everyday bitmap image. Then I just play about with it, adding transparency and such, then export a bitmap version of it to use on the net, or edit further with photoshop.

Perhaps I should write a guide on how to trace bitmaps and how to make the M&B banners like I do?

Hey, Timothy, I asked you before if you could do the database with banners. It is of much use now, if we just modify banners_a.dds by replacing the banners with clan ones. The more people/clans download it, the more people will be able to see it. Do you want me to make a thread about this, or will you do this? Since you got the almighty office of heraldry, I'd better ask you first .

I can do it myself as well. I'm just not sure whether it would work that way. It may be that the .dds file is serverside, but it's worth a shot to see if it works the other way. Hold on, I'll test...

It's player side, so everyone needs to get the file separately. To everyone else, I looked like I still had the native banner. Which is why I'm putting up a .dds file with the custom banners for download.

Edit: Here it is. Installing it is easy, just go to your M&B: Warband folder, find a folder called textures and copy-paste the file. You might want to create a backup before that, however.
The file's contents look like this

This post and forwards have instructions for that. But you don't have to do that yourself, since I'm going to start adding people's own personal banners in next. I'll just need to get some requests in first so I can fill out one of the .dds files.

Yes, unless someone else is using the same .dds files. That sucks, I know, but theres no way around that for now. Best we get as many people to use it as possible. Which shouldn't be too hard, considering the easiness of the installation of the banner pack. The downside is that there are limited spots on the .dds files, so everyone can't get customs at the moment.

Well yeah everyone should see the banners in their Warband installation since you dont upload your banner files when playing the game.

Alright, so I did some investigation on how many spots there are open on the banners, and turns out there's 120 places in total. Currently, 7 are in use, so a lot of folks can still get customs. I'm gonna have it as first-come, first-serve, so everyone has a chance to get theirs in. Just keep in mind that this is a temporary measure until the devs implement a better system.

Also, don't freak out if someone else uses your or your clan's banner, since this isn't a standardized, official system.
