So the French election will soon see a winner, and it looks like Hollande.
About time some socialist thoughts came back onto the French political scene.
And the crazy thoughts of Le Pen are being pushed further away from the limelight.

Any French people here - what's the mood like?

And here I came, hoping the Dutch had decided to invade. Was disappointed.

Actually did that in HOI3, Ruled from Brittany to Orleans.

After conquering those pesky Belgians of course.

Also: Was Non-aligned, The french were brokenand the Brits were busy with an active Nationalist Spain.

Didn't look at the poster, I just expected to see some theories on the level of rgodfrey.

I was confused and now I'm disappointed.

I still think François Hollande has a silly name. Reminds me of an awful singer here named Frans Duijts.

Well I'm french, and my mood today is that if Hollande wins, it's only the lesser evil : I sincerely think that Hollande and his crew can't really be called Socialists... But we really have to get rid of our actual gouvernment that is more and more leaning toward extreme-right wing...
But I really don't think Hollande as president will change much in our country. Will he really listen to his people like he says he will, doing referendums about important law texts? And he will still play the game of the banks and this silly debt payment (First budget is the debt interests, come on now, how can a state run properly this way?).

And about this electoral campaign it's all about what has done or will/won't do the other, not what they will do, so it really gives the impression of them just fighting for a position for themselves...which in the end could very well be the case...

So yeah like his slogan says, if he is elected "Change is now", but to what extent? I really don't know but it won't change our everyday lives...

Well, I can only hope he'll be off to a better start than the new Danish government was.

Yeah

Hollande is a step in the right direction, we'll see how much is actually going to change....

Well then, I'm on my way to go put this little piece of paper that bears so much hope for us French people. I really want to think that it will be the beggining of a new Europe but ehh...

Hollande is a douche and Sarkozy is a poser.

Marine Le Pen ftw!

But Hollande is very much pro EU, which goes against all his socialist ideals (if he has any) since EU is obviously a neoliberal project.

It's so obvious that I am blinded.  [/sarcasm]

EU's problem is just its sloppy and slow implementation.

I think EU is better than having all of us waisting our youth and lives in a bloody trench for some nationalist politicians. EU is actually freeing us from local retards depending on populist hysteries. Instead, EU imposes a reign of reason.

EU is also better than having to compete as puny little nations against global scale bullies like those nowadays big powers. It protects the European social-liberalism and hence prosperity.

So I cannot see how a pacifist and social-liberal project can be twisted out as a neoliberal thingy.

I don't think that particular comment was entirely serious.

He might be referring to the tendency of some other socialist parties (like the Dutch SP) to be anti-EU.

It was serious

It could be along discussion off topic. But I see some of the most important acts of the EU to be neoliberal:
