Throwing Weapons?

So are throwing weapons worth it? I mean they are expensive and I get only like 5 of them.
+Need high Power Throw skill!

Compared to bow as a ranged weapon, no.

Throwing Weapons only advantage to bows as a ranged weapon is that you can use it for melee and it's high shield damage.

The other main advantage is that you have a powerful ranged weapon that only takes up one slot, whereas bows and crossbows require a slot for the weapon and another slot for ammo.

Exactly. I tend to fit my characters with a one-handed weapon, a shield, a lance, and some sort of throwing weapon. I often do not even use the throwing weapon, except during those odd sieges when the AI troops cannot seem to manage killing the final enemy soldier who is somehow on a roof, behind a haystack, or in some other hard to access spot.

My weapons :
- Usualy : Bow/Arrows/Arrows/1H
- Siege : Bow/Arrows/Arrows/Arrows

Throwing Weapons have to few amunitions.
Bows at high level can one shot (with headshot). You level quickly when defending siege and are very effective.
You can start the game and level up fast chasing Looter alone.

As a primary weapon, throwing weapons are pretty marginal.  On the other hand, once you've got a 1-H melee weapon, a shield, and a lance, it makes a good 4th slot filler that sometimes allows an extra kill or two before closing to contact.  The window of vulnerability when their shield is lowered for throwing is relatively short, so it's not a bad option for facing a group of crossbowmen at shorter ranges, who will be staring at the ground and unshielded while they reload, or bowmen who are minimally armored and unshielded.  At longer ranges, the lack of ammo is a serious drawback, so you don't want your troops wasting their javelins and axes while they're still far from the enemy.

Strictly speaking no, you can easily master a bow enough that most of your hits will be headshots and take down enemies in one hit. However the beauty of Warband is that there are many weapon combination you can try, some are more useful then others but at one point you may want to switch it up just for novelty. Every weapon type has it's advantages and disadvantages, for example lances can be good early game since they can take down pretty much anything in one hit, but they are slow to recharge so in late game you may do more damage overall if you take a sword or another quiver of arrows instead. In that vein what others said is pretty much true, you can wield throwing weapons with a shield and they only take up one slot, so you can try a different loadout then the usual sword+shield+bow+arrows, like maybe take a lance and a melee weapon, or one of my favorites, a bog standard spear, you would be amazed how much you can do with it, poking the enemies when you are out of range. Also throwing weapons can be used as ne handed weapons, this is especially useful with throwing axes since they are not half bad as melee weapons at all, meaning you can use the first 3 axes (or 5 if you find a large bag of them) and then switch the last one to melee mode ad free up yet another slot. If theoretically you had a shield and filled all the other slots with large bags of axes you would have 15 axes, which isn't half bad.

I always wonder why people compare weapon which has to be used for the small gap when enemy is running to you to engage in melee and very opposite play style of character with a bow who doesn't engage in melee very often or never engage in melee.

Throwing weapons are worth it if you are melee fighter, especially in "without horse" scenario. They are better then bows and crossbows for melee fighter.
