Need More Info Thractorae Castle Defenders

So, I saved my game before sieging Thractorae Castle. Once I get the ladders up, the defenders start leaping off the walls to attack my troops at the ladders. I assume they take fall damage? Either way, they then rush my mob at the bottom of the ladder and get killed quickly. This is hilarious to watch but I am assuming not working as intended. I re-loaded and tried again and the same thing happens. The defenders raise their weapons and leap off the walls one by one.
