thought about scale armour

Users who are viewing this thread

ive either ead somewhere or heard something about arrows having little effect on scale armour. I notice that most of the swadian crossbowmen wear those. Maybe scale could give a bonus against the damage of arrows? i dont know about bolts though :???:

Any info supporting this or against it is appreciated

I don't know about scale vs. blades/blunts, but I heard that scale is less protedtive against arrows. It takes less than a 45-degree angle of the arrow to slip right behind the scales, while with chainmail, the arrow needs to split at least one ring to get through. Plus the custom of chainmailes all the way back to the 1100ds wast having 5mm (1/5 inch) diameter riveted rings.

Armagan: A new idea for grading chainmailes could be riveted/not riveted. (Maybe even flattened/not flattened, but that didn't make any difference in protection).
