This game sucks

Mount and Blade 3 will sell well if it has a good hype cycle with cool screenshots and videos. That's the unfortunate truth. If you can make people's imaginations run wild about what the game will be like, they'll buy it, regardless of what the company has done in the past.
I don’t think so. Bannerlord mortgaged long term growth for a short term boom. They released a bad product and yes, because of the hype from warband players were able to push it on a mainstream audience. But mainstream audiences don’t sell copies, unless it is a mainstream game like call of duty. With the hugely negative response from the fan base, I don’t know if the same type of hype train can start rolling for m&b3. Once it gets rolling the SSS (steam sale scum as I call them) will keep pushing it into relevance but you need that initial spark from your loyal fans to get it going. And I think they sold out that spark by making bannerlord bad.

Bannerlord is a mainstream game though. It was one of the best selling games of 2020.
Not like cod or counter strike I mean. It doesn’t have that name recognition; they got a good sale in 2020 but that’s it. They’re back to relative obscurity. Look at the release date video they put out a few months ago: 242k views. That’s less than the early access peak iirc, and far less than the 3-5 million copies they sold. Back in 2017 that’s what ironhawk and resonant would get viewership wise for speculation videos with a couple screenshots and a dream.

I think the point he was trying to make is that Mount and Blade was up to this point rather niche. The question then becomes will they be able to remain mainstream after all the horrific missteps from long term fans perspectives?

I think unfortunately they will.

Sad.

I'm not sure. Of the ~200 clan members of mine, almost all of us participated in the Bannerlord hype train, looking at all the videos, posting on the forum, buying it asap. Of those, I think maybe 5-10 have confidence in the next M&B

There are many more features missing in Bannerlord from Warband than just feasts and skill books, as you can see from my post signature.

Nobody called Bannerlord unplayable. It's playable. But it is an unfun game.

And it is certainly unacceptable that a sequel which has been in development for 10 years with a 10x larger team should be missing so many features and so much functionality compared to its predecessor.

It's easier for people to pretend an extreme message so they don't have to actually think about the information being presented to them, because then they would be too uncomfortable with the answer.

I wish I created games professionally. It is apparently very easy to swindle people. lol

Ah yes, the feasts and skill books.

The game is literally unplayable without those.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really love watching people pretend like this that they don't understand the point.

Guys. Can't we just show eachother compassion and understanding and create a world of love a peace, for a change.

In general, people do not seem to read things carefully enough before they make judgements about what they have read. Or that guy was trying to banter.

Violence is the cure to all problems in society.
Violence isn't the answer. Violence is the question, and the answer is yes.

Despite seeming like the beautiful mean girls scene, i have to agree. People are too keen on kicking each other down and pointing to mistakes or fails, in the language of the ancients: to PWN one another.

You are either licking armagans boots, or being edgy and rightful in complaining about the lack of feasts and how much immersion it gave the game. Reality is harder than that, and it would be fruitless just saying the game sucks after 10000387 years of development. It still has features missing. Game of thrones was idealized, developed, published up to its 8th and last season, a prequel was made and published before the author actually finished the what, 6th book of ice and fire? Of a series he began writing in the 1990s. The point is: just like 42069 hours of playtime on steam doesnt make it a good game, 10 years of dev doesnt make it a full game. McDs takes 5 minutes to be made and delivered, a mediocre product, and pays its employees a crap pay because it wants to maximize profits (which rakes in billions more than the previous year. Every year), mcds is still crap and a blight on humanity. Even after 70 years of development and delivering on its promises. Its still garbage.

The "metrics" you use make no sense in reality, they are anecdotal at best. The game has its very positive points and its quite negative ones, at worst, it is mediocre, but doesnt really suck. But there sure are many, many rooms for improvement.

all of this without implying anyone one of you are idiots. See? Its not hard not being awful to one another, you morons. Stop hating one one another.

Counterpoint: Nancy Pelosi's husband getting attacked by a crack addict with a hammer lead to her not seeking a leadership position.

Im not an ameritard unitedstatian, so im not sure if this is meant to be good or bad, i dont care about rich families who use public office to amass wealth. Nor do i care about internal politics of a banana republic governed by private lobbying

I never denied violence has an effect, but its effect veers the negative side more often than not, and thats why avoiding violence, even in forum speech, can be very beneficial to the debate. Because violence is basically the opposite of a debate. And calling every peer a stupid fan/stupid hater is also denying a fruitful debate. Yes, TW may well ignore it, but they sure will if all we're doing is cursing each other off instead of having productive debates. The least we can do is try, and mere complaining is not trying.

But saying because BL is 8/10 vs NMS's 3/10 as the definitive measure why the game doesn't or does suck shouldn't matter. It's literally just an aggregate of either a thumbs up or thumbs down button, so really, it's either a 1/1 game or a 0/1 game.
That's not what I said though and it's not what we have been discussing.

The question was, will TW manage to improve the game as much as HG did after release?

My point was that the comparison doesn't make much sense because NMS was perceived even worse than Bannerlord.

That doesn't mean that Bannerlord needs to be an awesome game for you, you can dislike it as much as you want. But please try to understand the point and don't turn it into something else.

What am I turning it into? I'm not disagreeing with your original 'point' that we cannot compare the two and that BL will or will not do what NMS did; but not by referencing against the arbitrary review numbers from a platform as the reason. You're dismissing a lot of people's opinions here based on the fact that because BL is 8/10 on steam reviews, it cannot be comparable to NMS (which was 3/1)) based on that fact.
