This game is sucking the enjoyment out of my life.

First off this isn't a rant about this game, I love Warband, I think it's great. And that's the problem. The latest patch causes the game to crash for me so now I can't play it. To make matters worse I can no longer enjoy the original Mount and Blade or any of it's mods because the Warband combat system is so much better. I cringe everytime I play the original and my character stiffly holds his sword out to the side as I charge the enemy. To make matters even worse than that there are no full mods out for Warband yet, just unfinished versions riddled with bugs. To make these alread horrible matters yet even more worse I'm going on vacation on Friday and that's already making this week slow down to a crawl. It's like this game and everything to do with it is conspiring to make every second seem like hours. Damn you Warband, damn you to hell for making me love you......

hehe sry couldnt help myself.

It sounds like you have an addiction problem

I dunno what you can do until Mods start coming out though... maybe learn modding yourself? It'll make the process go by faster at least.

I agree, this game is so addictive. It makes you wanna have more and more, it never ends. It starts slow, at least for me it did. Then after a few hours of playing I wanted more and more. So sweet and bad in the same time. You need a break, realy...

I am afraid I must agree, I patched mine to the latest, and within 5 minutes it crashed, so I deleted the game, and did a reinstall from scratch, but used my latest savegame, and again, in a different battle, it crashd to desk top.
The idea of starting again, does not appeal to me. A great game, better than MB in my opinion, but so buggy.

I did get to see the better rates for prisinors, different ammounts for different grade of troops, great, also the settings stayed after a restart, all good, but this is the shortest I have been able to play.

Yes, I am whining!

i have not had ONE crash from the day warband came out, and i've beening modding like a madman... even when my UNcompatible save games start showing their flaws... (like strings showing up as names)... it's you.... promise

If it's not save game compatible, then they need to write a save game updater. Breaking 100+ day old save games on patches is unacceptable.

That's a good idea, how hard can a save game updater be to make.

Exactly, if you have a file format writer, then you likely also have a file format reader. Keep your old file format reader or abstract it into a component, read, and use your updated file format writer. This is, provided you know the what your new file format supports that your old one doesn't. Either way, if it does crash, you can always step into your debugger and see "oh, this place is where the old file format is incompatible".
