No diplomacy.
No internal affairs.
Can't even decorate own troops.
Can't host banquet.
Just infinite war.

They haven't fixed a server crash for over two years
The map of the arena in the city is always the same.
The Lord Hall in the city is always the same.
Their translation is not as good as Google Translation.
Except for events, even though it's a weekend, the population of the entire multiplay server is less than 400.

Heroes also have no unique personality.

There are also few options between conversations with the NPC.

wife is also just a child-bearing soldier.

This game lacks too much detail.
As the name mount and blade implies, it is a war simulator.

They are leaving details entirely to Modder.

They officially launched in this condition.

Even if I post something like this on the forum, the developers won't agree because they already have a set workload.

It is a jack of all trades game that offers a little of what dozens of genre-specific games offer in great detail.

That is both its beauty, and its curse. It is the reason so many are addicted to it in spite of it's flaws, and why so many people dislike it, but still play.

It is a little bit real time battle simulator, a little bit role playing, a little bit diplomacy, a little bit FPS and a little bit of many other genres. There are better games in all those genres which specialise. Total War is a better tactical battle simulator, Crusader Kings has better diplomacy, Civilisation games are better for building empires etc etc. But Bannerlord offers more diversity of experience than them all, because they specialise.

So people who play Bannerlord and Crusader Kings are sad because diplomacy lacks. But they still play for the tactical battle. People who play Total War are sad because tactical battles lack, but still play for the FPS thrill of being in the battle. People who play Civilisation are sad because they have so little control over the development of their empire. But they still play because they can walk about their cities and see the buildings during a siege.

Bannerlord will never be as good at your favourite specialised game, at it's specialisation. It will offer a little bit of that. Just enough to support it's breadth.

I have been saying this for 2 years. This is where the game is soulless come from. The npc's are all the same no personality stands out from another. I am using mods to fix some of the issue's but not all mods get updated. But it shouldn't be down to mods to implement such things it's obvious the game is missing them. I have also referred to Bannerlord as just infinite war and it gets boring. the mods i am 20 plus mods and some i have lost because there not being updated. I couldn't play vanilla i find it empty.

this^

The Mount&Blade series, is a jack of all trades. I understand some thing will never be accomplished, but some can be totally done.

At the same time look like Kingdom focus, now it Dynasty based with Warfare

jack of one trade, it's a battle simulator, you fight battles to conquer the map that is it. thinking there is other elements you can do in this game like diplomacy or rpg is literally coping

Yeah I really don't get the "jack of all trades" comment. It has one selling point which is the battles. To its credit no other game even attempts something on this scale. The rest is just filler or context for the battles. It's as specialised a game as any other.

Imagine playing Bannerlord and only being able to autoresolve every battle. Would you still call it a "jack of all trades" or would it just be a bad game?

If you look at the release trailer of the game. I'm quite sure its the fights and battles people got sold on.

tbh its still a bad game, it has some eye candy battles with braindead AI and thats it. The game offers nothing else and it barely offers good battles.

Its not even as good a war simulator as it can be.

If they focused less on dynasty mechanics and other useless ****, and focused on engaging army management, logistics stuff and etc, it would have been quite enough.

Dynasty mechanics is what made me interested in buying the game as i expected Warband with much more game mechanic's but we got different mechanics and cut many warband stuff which is crazy. I expected mount and blade combat it didn't expect total war combat in mount and blade. But the dynasty mechanics aren't even finished the relationship stat doesn't work and seems pointless as the npc's have no interaction .The relationship stat seems to work better in Warband. I hope both get fixed.

The game simply is not well suited to that Crusader Kings thing at all, at least as it is though. Its very possible to fly through stuff too fast and have a lot done before your kids are even ready to take over.

Meh, they're definitely ghost-patching some neat stuff... I've noticed that not only do lords react to moral decisions like pillaging or showing mercy but it also seems ruling Lords seem to give preference to mercy givers or pillagers...

I was playing a Vlandian run and Deer-heart wouldn't give me any cities until I started chanting esoteric secrets
and SHOWING NO MERCY! DEATH TO CITIZENS THAT DIDN'T FLEE THE CITY! KILLING CIVILIANS BY TORTURING THE CITY WAS THE ONLY WAY TO GET DERRRRHERT TO APPRECIATE ME! I KILLED THOUSANDS IN THOSE CITIES AND I FINALLY WAS GIFTED A CITY OF MY OWN. THEY HATED ME AND REBELLED AGAINST ME BUT JOKE'S ON THEM! I BROKEDOWN THOSE WALLS AND KILLED THEIR FAMILIES AGAIN MUHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA...

(I actually like showing mercy so that the city I captured isn't demoralized and destroyed)

FINALLY, I AM A REAL VLANDIAN LORD WITH CITIES. I JUST WISH THE CITIES DIDN'T HATE ME FOR UNKNOWN REASONS.

MUHAHHAHAHAH

Chill bro the game even as a war simulator has gotten better. Play Warband and see how far they've come..
All while being accosted by the "worst" pandemic ever, global military tensions, global financial problems and a global depression as the sheet falls from the theater.

Check out the detail within the cities and castles... Its insane... I find a million amazing creations like the market squares with their pillars or battanian pillars with 4 faces. Ugh this game is like stupidly amazing.

I still cant believe they made merc groups weaker tho... I liked capturing mercs like the Goldy Boars and using them as my elite crossbowers...

I'm very sad and confused.

Did you know you can take down city gates by using throwing axes? and also siege towers. It's insane.
Why cant I have Elite mercs again... Why are they weak and boring? why does @Duh_TaleWorlds hate me?

Why is butter still legal for civilians? That was a great easter egg even if it was a bug or something
Where are the potatoes?

why wont @mexxico talk to me anymore?

Why am I not streaming this when I appreciate all the details missed?

-(they ghost patched the bug for gaining influence by donating troops to your own parties)
-(war gaming seems to be broadly better) although large armies get distracted by small units.
-I actually feel like the global war actually changes the landscape and new areas become hotbeds of conflict.

That's been around for like a year or so.

Imagine playing Bannerlord and only being able to autoresolve every battle. Would you still call it a "jack of all trades" or would it just be a bad game?

You've literally answered your own question.

If Bannerlord could only autoresolve battles, it would be like a bad version of Civilisation games.
If Bannerlord didn't have first-person, it would be like a bad version of Total War games
If Bannerlord didn't have a 3d world map with full battles it would be like a bad version of Crusader Kings.

But it has each of those things. It sacrifices depth of gameplay that those specialised games have in their specialist areas, to include a wider variety of things to do. Certainly the battles are a big part of Bannerlord, but it is also a 1v1 combat sim. And you can quite easily play the game by pressing auto-resolve for every battle.

This is where the jack of all trades comment comes in. And why Bannerlord will never be as good as all those other games in their specialised areas - which will always leave those who expect it to be unsatisfied.

The game simply is not well suited to that Crusader Kings thing at all, at least as it is though. Its very possible to fly through stuff too fast and have a lot done before your kids are even ready to take over.
That's a pacing issue and good mechanics adding substance wouldn't spoil the game it would make is leaps and bonds better and not just a boring fight game. people should play chivalry 2 or the like or stick the online multiplayer if they want just battles, Warband had more to do than Bannerlord and that's the problem. Plus one the Big stand out mods is Banner kings they have mad it work.
