I've seen bunches of discussions here that relate in some way to Medieval 2 Total war, so I thought some of you might be interested in this total conversion mod.

The trailer is pretty neat:

Hope it interests some

Not when it's a 1.5gb download i'm not.

I'm impressed, but I don't fancy having to use 12 hours to download something I might not play for very long anyway.

well ****, that looks pretty ****ing epic.

Probably wait until someone uploads it onto a torrent.

Yeah, definitely wait for a torrent. Why get the mod alone when you can get it, AND 30-something trojans?

Torrents are quite safe in fact. I've used them to download MMOs if the MMO site provides it as an alternate means of download.
There would have to be something in the original data to corrupt the data. It's very unlikely that it would be corrupted in transit from one computer from another.

Nope, thats the one.

What did they pilfer?

a few textures.
That's what happens when the team members don't know each other and hurry to make a release as soon as possible. There are some excellent modders and some rubbish ones. One of them decided to "borrow" our stuff.
There were lengthy quarrels about it with the leader, but it's all ok now I think.

Especially when you're getting parts of the data from many different sources...

Don't you thin kI would do some reasearch if I was using such a system? Unless the tracker has security problems, there's generally not going to be anyone uploading the wrong files. Though I havent tried uploading the wrong files before, I'm pretty sure it's only possible to mess it up by sending a few bytes off here and there.
Ones that are used commercially aren't a threat I would think.

I was backing you up! Correct me if I am wrong, but one of the advantages of torrenting is downloading from several soruces at once.

OH .

I thought you were backing up the position that since there are several sources that are uploading the data, there's a large chance that they will be a few unwanted programs thrown in also.

lol, forgot I posted this.

I prefer Filefront because it's a generally respectable site and it downloads fast for me. However, I got a mod from a torrent one time--ONE TIME--and got some kind of ultra-virus that beat my CPU with a lead pipe, and zombified it. From that point on, I treated torrent sites the same way a priest would treat the plague: fire and holy water.
