max 300? so say 300 2h or 300 pole arms would be very deadly...
Well 255 is max, and it would mean they could only spend 45 on other weapons, which is nothing.

Still I think it would be better to have something like
infantry: all proficiencies 100
archers: melee 60 + archery 180 or
archers: melee 80 + archery 150 or
archers: melee 100 (they would still have less power strike) + archery 130
cavalry: all proficiencies 90 or
cavalry: all proficiencies 70 + archery 150

and than add a some skill customization.

i think Archonsod is right we should take it slow, the beta did only start at the end of august (not that i have anything against planning for the future and brainstorming)

You have no idea how long even well planned mods take to be made, do you?

i'm all for the idea of speccing your own characters pre fight. (if you're going to be nords, you spec for all the nord troops, etc)

And no, this doesn't apply to this thread at all. Read.

you ****in read.

You said speccing troops pre fight, and it will be done pre fight in some way, but you can't change it before each fight. You just make them once in the module system/troop editor (the stats). Also all the stats apply for every character with the same class, not just for you.

well i'm just saying it'd be cool, instead of a fixed build for everyone, if you could just get a certain amount of points and spec them how you want for each individual class. (base values of course, so the archers couldn't be as good of pikemen as pikemen are supposed to be, etc).

but... kinda feels like we're arguing about the same basic thing...?? the difference is whether the players gets to decide or just have a cookie cut class. i vote freedom :]

Different ideas.

This thread is about making a custom set of troops that a clan might want as their "army"

One thing I find really easy to get excited about is the prospect of some sort of API that allows us to gather information about battles.  Things like "who killed who with what and where."  Then we could generate some pretty crazy things like battle maps that show where the battle was most concentrated, most popular gear, etc.  This would also allow us to do automated tournaments that wouldn't require the honor system/referee, which is what we'd need at the moment.

I'd like to see a system where you could have a map that was segmented into hexes, and parts of it changed hands based on scheduled matches.

The warband gets to decide, they will create the classes.

what warband?
Each warband/clan/guild/community that wants to be part of the mod will create his own faction. So there will be one faction (f.e. Kingdom of Swadia is a faction) for each warband. Of course the clans would like to overpower their faction, but that would be unfair so we would need certain rules that have to be decided.

You could do that with a website. Or something similar at least.

I think this was something similar to what I was thinking about...?

Risk style game, with each territory grab/ attack / defend being played out by a battle between 2 factions. Whoever wins that battle will then take over that slot or territory on the map. Each territory Can only attack nearby / adjacent territories etc. When (if) a faction takes the whole map it is restarted back to each faction having an even share and it begins again.

I had a similar system written out that I posted in Fun Stuff a while ago, but it's on hold until Warbands is released and we can host our own games. Basically standard Mount&Blade, but turn based with players taking the role of Lords and Kings. Recruiting armies, burning villages, laying siege, all that fun stuff and a few extra interesting rules as well.

I'll have to update it to take into account the new faction and any changed to the old units once warbands is released, but that hopefully won't take too long.
