Umm.. Highelf?

I just desided to start modelling  We will see if i succeed to do anything, or am i totally idiot in this.

Anyway, i cant understand what you are saying, i mean those programs. What are those programs you need? I can understand everything else, but what is the name of that modelling program?

btw. Is modelling hard? Do you need to write meters and meters codes?

Hi Oldman...

The program is Wings 3D.

Thanks.

E: Hi again. I watch the 1 st tutorial right now, and i'am getting the idea of this. But theres and problem, i edit them to this post.

1. You didnt tell how to make the cylinder into many small different parts
2. Problem solved.
3.

Sorry for doublepost, but what do you think of my very first model? I made a mace. What do you think? Is it nice?  : )

Hi Vanhammies -

You *can* code a model, but nearly no one does that.

Modelling is not really hard. Firstly, you need to understand how the program works what a model is made of, then you need to get a hang of the tools and what they do, and after that all you need it to be artsy and creative I guess.

Not a bad mace, but the geometry looks abit wierd. For a spiky mace, I suggest taking a cube, smoothing once or twice, and selecting the vertecies and extruding. From there on you can tweak it to what you want, and the geometry will be fine.

I made my axe... basic. I'am still a noob : S .

I can make only very simple, small cube + long cube style.. that.. where you.. uh.. handle your weapon. Whats that again?

I cant do anything nice. Just simple small things : (

hello highelf

i came by your videos while strolling around in the MB forums and thought about modeling and if i could do it.. but i want to ask you something first..i never used wings3d before, actually i never did 3d modeling before  do you think i can handle it with those tuts of yours? i am actually a photoshopper ^_^" not really sure about myself on modeling

edit: forgot to add, the reason im asking is that umm..downloading 50mb is not that fast around here

If you start with the first tutorial and continue chronologically, you get a complete introduce into what you need to know - I don't say or make you do anything that I don't explain so, no need to have any knowledge of modelling or Wings3D at all.

I finally decided to check this out and...

Thank God! A TEXTURING TUTORIAL! I WUBS YOU HIGH ELF!

(Still downloading though, and gosh I hope it's step-by-step, I'm hopeless unless it is.)

Thank you so much! I've been looking for something like this. Watched the first three tutorials, the fourth is downloading. I saved the the basic helmet design (minus the nose guard and bar over the top) from the third tutorial as a foundation for my helmets. Made a few helmets (and a few weapons) and they're looking good already. These tutorials are an excellent resource for noobs like myself.

Dude, you should make a video tutorial on getting a model in game.  The other ones were very helpful and i can do all of those things now except get to use it in mount and blade.

Great videos. Before I watched them (only watched the first three, actually. I'm still watching the others..) all I could manage to make was a square. Awesome.

Your English is great too. I didn't know you didn't speak English as your first language until you said so in the first video.

Like I said. These tutorials are very useful.

First model. Scaled it to be a tiny bit larger then the scythe, with a 201 poly count. Texturing it now. Now I just need to figure out how to get the damned thing in game.

Thank you!
You are now my most respected player and helper on M&B. XD
I have a question though.  If you create a sword big and thick like Cloud's ( from FF7 )
would the size be too big for the game to handle or does it depend on the number of squares and rectangles?

Again, I thank you.

Depends on the number of polies (squares and triangles).

Size doesn't matter.

You can have a sword the size of the empire state building (which is low poly) that doesn't lag nearly as much as an atom-sized sword (with lots of polies).
