The Sturgian experience

This faction...what is wrong with them other then hating the world?
Several playthroughs i've seen them get annihilated. This is my latest experience.

I started out slow building reputation with villages for that nice boost when recruiting. A couple of years in i noticed Sturgia being attacked by the khurzaits so i saw my chance to join and use my experienced army to cap a castle or two. Everything went fine and we soon had them on the run.

Ok, i guess we are winning this war so might as well go for a new target. A little bit early but atleast the vlandians are at war with western empire as well.
I barely manage to reach the western border before..
"Sturgia declared war on Southern Empire"
Uuhm ok, atleast they are at war with Aseri and Khuzaits. Should not be that big of a threat.

I manage to fend of a Vlandian army when a fresh Battanian army runs in and caps a town. My army is depleted and every army in the faction is running low.

Now in a way i don't mind this at all. I'm currently in the process of buying towns from my faction using the Everything Has A Price perk and i bet there will be alot of angry vassals i can recruit when i break off and make my own kingdom of the ruins of Sturgia. Was hoping to drag it out and build relations with the vassals first though and maybe build up my character.

Haha yep it's been happening with everyone. It's also clearly the reason why they don't last long. The AI for Sturgia spreads itself extra thin by desiring war on all boarders.

I mean, i don't mind being at war but every vassal have less then 50 men. At some point the AI should think "huh, maybe we should take a break a build up our forces again".

Agree and their geographical location does them no favors.

You have to be a masochist like myself to fight for Sturgia, they seriously have nothing going for them and I love it.

In a few weeks or so when the AI are a bunch of sissies we are going to miss this period where they wreaked maximum havok.

I was able to help Sturgia to become dominant faction on the map, but it was hell of a grind. From my perspective, main problem is their king, he was very passive in my game, but claimed almost all fiefs for himself. As result we had two dozens of bankrupt vassals with 50-70 men squads full of recruits and only good sized and composed army on frontlines was mine.

Ragnavad can go lose this war himself. Currently camping in my town i bought from a vassal and if i see the entire Sturgian empire crumble i will split off and create my own kingdom. We are currently at war with everyone but the Asari and Khuzaits. We peaced out Khuzaits early in the war and kept our lands but i bet he will declare war on them again soon. I get that it would be logical if the other empires declared war on us but it's Sturgia declaring war on everyone with no army, we lost half our towns and a handful of vassals have left

Edit: Watched a huge army come for one of my towns so i immediately broke off. I then hunted down one of the Sturgian vassals and peaced out for 15k. I now roam around watching Sturgian armies getting torn to pieces. Ragnavad just got captured also. Good luck Ragnavad

Maybe it's scripted that way because Raganvad is a worthless ruler who doesn't command the respect of his men and has made nothing but enemies in the past?

Empire factions are the same in my current game i serve Southern Empire as vassal and my leader after starting war with Aserai decleares peace, but in process starts war with Khurzaits and Northern Empire both having stronger military so we cannot expand at all we strugle too hold them back.

One observation: every time i play as vassal too any Empire faction im not observing any snowballing, but if i play as vassal to Vlandia snowballing happens and Sturgia gets screwed

Could it be as simple as a trigger either by player joining or their vassal pool growing forcing them to grab more land?
Sturgia and every other empire was mostly peaceful with minor skirmishes but not many towns changed hands until i joined Sturgia. That somehow triggered a major surge of wars being declared (mostly by Sturgia)

After i left i took one town with me and shortly after Sturgia only had Omor left. They peaced out everyone. I want to wipe them out but they have all their vassals (except those that left) in that town plus a garrison for a total of 800 men
