The Siege of Alt Cult

I besieged Alt Cut the other night.  All I can say is "Good Lord!" Is this a new town scene?  Talk about a slaughter.  I attacked this town with around 700 men (including around 200 elites), while the garrison was around 350, expecting this to be a walk in the park.

However, i was in for a surprise, the 1st assault was a total failure, and I was forced to retreat.  You start off by the water, you have to walk up the side of a mountain for about 2 minutes, under heavy fire the entire way.  You finally get to the top, where there are 2 narrow ramps, leading up a huge stone wall full of archers.  As if that wasn't bad enough, there is another huge stone palisade high on a hilltop to the left, which is also full of archers.  While you are climbing the ramp, you are being murdered by archers from the top hill on the left, as well as the wall in front of you. 

I lost almost my entire army taking that town, it was a damn slaughter, the archers on that town scene are murderous. 

If anyone wants a challenge, I recommend trying to take Alt Cult, you will be in for a real treat.  To the creator of  that scene, I say excellent job, it is a beautiful scene, and probably the most realistic I have seen yet, I wish all the siege scenes were as challenging. 

Edit: Now all you need to do is make the same scene or better for Bebbanburg, as anyone who has read of Uhtred of Bebbanburg  knows that it was one of the greatest fortresses of that era.

Well i was also planning on to take it to my pictish kigdom next.  Sounds like i have a top job since im my game alt cult has about 600 men carrison. And btw, have you seen the siege map of Bebbanburh. It is also really cool looking and tough fortress to take.

Bebbanburgh actually disappointed me a little, it is good, but Alt Cut is 10 times better, it is what Bebbanburgh should have been.  You will know what I mean when you see it.  Good Luck, you will need it!

Actually I was planning on trying to starve them out, however, I ran out of money to buy supplies, and with only a few days left of food, i had no choice to Assault.

If you were to garrison your army and just besiege it with a much smaller army you may be able to make your supplies last for 30 days, though you could be vulnerable to counter attack.

Admittedly it annoys the heck out of me that enemy armies don't need to worry about supplies while you do. A army of 1000+ sat outside my town for 30 days once and we were starved out. Yet if I attempted to do the same thing I'd run out of food in the first day :/

Alt Clut is an impressive piece of scene editing, though. I've never besieged it but the town itself is very impressive.
