The REGIMENTAL Vs IRREGULARS Contests
Greetings fellow mount and bladers! I have the honour and great privilege to present to you an exciting new series of public events for Napoleonic wars…. The REGIMENTAL vs IRREGULARS Contests. Servers...
15th_Public_Siege No need for public events when the server will be open to everyone at any time of the day
SYNOPSIS
The purpose of these events is to bring together both regimental and public players in a fun and relaxed environment wherein they can all enjoy the game and indulge in some friendly competition at the same time. The basic concept is simple, regiments are invited to show their great skills at organisation and discipline and irregulars are invited to prove their worth as individual players. The driving force behind the idea is to unite regimental players with the public players out there who like to do things their own way but have a good sense of fair play. Hopefully this will make a new and enjoyable playing experience for all concerned in the process.
THE EVENTS
THE `LINEBATTLE`
Obviously this is to be played for fun and no-one can expect the Irregulars to be able to perform and abide by the typical line battle rules. The Irregulars are however strongly encouraged to enter into the spirit of the things and form a rough semblance of a believeable line of battle. I`m sure any regimental players filling up the ranks of the irregular side could show them the basics and lead the way! Regimental players are expected to fight the line battle with their usual skill and efficiency but are not governed by any strict rules over how they conduct their combat and manoeuvres. I reckon the Irregulars will be impressed by first hand experience of facing a volley of well aimed musket fire!
GOOD REASONS FOR REGIMENTS TO PARTICIPATE
You will be given a perfect opportunity to show off your skills, camaraderie and discipline to the Napoleonic Wars community as a whole. This will allow you the potential to gather more recruits and increase your reputation positively amongst all the players of the game.
Due to the relatively informal nature of this event and the fact it will be repeated over a longer period of time than most official events you will be able to pick and choose when to participate at your own convenience. No organisational worries and faff just a good playing experience and a perfect opportunity to let all your members both new and old to get more of an active role in proceedings. After all as far as this event is concerned numbers are not a problem, the more the merrier!
The event offers a perfect training opportunity for regiments both small and large; perhaps junior officers can get some command experience in a slightly more forgiving environment than a strict LB. Any fluff ups on their part wont matter so much as they would during highly competitive games.
It will be fun!
GOOD REASONS FOR PUBLIC PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE
Think/know you are the best/one of the best players out there? Then now is the perfect opportunity for you to prove it. Step forth and attempt to reap your personal glory!
These events will offer you a unique chance to see first hand just how the regiments play the game and how enjoyable a more organised game experience can be. They will also be a perfect place to meet up with the regiments and get to know their members from first hand experience.
Like playing the game but hate all the negative aspects of tking, arty trolling and the like? Come play in an event where such things will be dealt with harshly and quickly so as not to distract from the game itself.
It will be fun!
REQUIRED PLAYER BEHAVIOUR
No deliberate and repeated teamkilling!
No arty trolling!
No teamhitting!
No excessive swearing or joining the game with an offensive or racist name.
No rampant spamming; excuses like your cat walked over your keyboard will not be accepted!
Do feel free to ask other players for advice or request information about any of the regiments taking part.
Do remember that it is a friendly contest to be enjoyed by all and not to take your character`s death as a personal insult to all you hold dear!
Do apologise for accidental team kills. A little politeness goes a long way towards improving your reputation amongst other players.
Do ask admin for help if needed and don`t be afraid to tell tales on players who are breaking the rules and misbehaving. However players found to be lying their heads off about others will find themselves the recipients of the kicks/bans rather than the innocent victim of their machinations.
Special thanks and 99.9% of the credit go out to Colonel Nicholls of the Scots Guards and Colonel Spartan of the 2nd Coldstream Guards for giving this event an opportunity to take place! They displayed patience above and beyond the call of duty whilst being subjected to my ramblings and they are the guys that can actually get the thing done at the end of the day! All suggestions and feedback welcome and it would be interesting to see how many regiments and individual players would be interested in giving it a go!
