I can tell you the true reason of the delay!

As many of you know, there is a Scene design contest ongoing, and many people are hard at work with the Scene Editor. As it happens, there are bugs and crashes galore (much worse that the base game tbh), and many people from modding community have bombarded bug report section with Scene Editor issues recently. Now, some of them are file-corrupting and progress-breaking, and since the contest is half-due to the submission date, perhaps Taleworlds feel just to fix a few severe problems with the editor in hopes it may even restore some of the corrupted files the contestants have had.

It is all just rumor and speculation, although I can tell you for a fact that many of the devs are actually open to troubleshooting within their personal time. This might further distract some of them, however I'd like to express my great appreciation for them helping us a lot with our questions and problems with the editor.

This patch is on the same timeline as the refractor, not sure what is going on here, how is that possible?

lol it's hilarious that everytime there's a time gap between updates, we start to see wishful thinking, expecting the update to be "something big". Based on the previous updates where they took their time.. pretty pointless to expect "something big" is in the works. Expect your usual update. Just a reality check.

Agreed.

It's natural that people might hope for more. It's human.

Not to mention at most people's jobs more time spent is expected to equal MORE WORK DONE/MORE PROFITE/ or else you have serious problem and are going to be let go as soon as they can replace you.
Apparently not for game devs though.....

Im expecting small. Ive seen the past trajectory so nothing would lend me to believe this would be different. Plus if you dont expect much, you might be pleasantly surprised.
*sings* "Low-ered Expectaaaationssss"

Be honest. Even with your lowered expectations, you're more likely to be unpleasantly surprised. Best cure is that you expect nothing, even better, expect them to make the game worse over time. At least that way, you set the odds fair enough for everybody.

They also think this ranged combat overhaul is a big update. We've been so starved of content people are starting to think the aiming reticle shrinking slower based on weapon type is something big and exciting.

I want some content that I'm not going to forgets been changed after 5 minutes playing.

Who thinks that?
I'm not going to mention them directly because I don't wanna call them out over their opinion, but I've seen and talked to a few who are expecting and calling it a big update after watching that developer blog thing.

I hope they're right, I just doubt it from what we've seen and heard.

I mean like I'm excited for it it seems interesting enough but calling it major is wrong

1.5.4 just got released out of beta... next beta is also here, I wonder if there's stuff other than the things they showed

This is the first game I ever participated in EA... specifically because I've had high hopes for Bannerlord, and I want to help get it right. To that end, I always run unmodded, although I'm confident that mods would improve my experience.

I also document and report bugs. Well, I'm down to reporting about once a week, from about 4 a week some months back. So, I think/hope they're getting the general game working more or less in the bare-bones form they EA'd.

But I am discouraged about new content. It trickles in so infrequently, and it's mostly inconsequentially. I have strong doubts that even the braced-up versions we have now (compared to March) are gonna hold the line when they actually start fixing original stupid-ass design decisions. Just as a for-instance - when crafting a javelin doesn't make you a smithing god or rewards you with value beyond a city's ability to pay, how will they respond to the instant complaints that characters can no longer progress in the game?

I'm not hopeful.

That is so sad to read.
EA is usually about working hand in hand with the community and the playerbase to make the best experience for both.
That not all can be included is a no brainer but they have to communicate with the olayerbase way more to make EA work.
Right now it feels that we are nothing more than Beta testers that paid for that "privilege".

This game is a horrible example for early access

Ideally, yeah, but most EA games I've participated in have been glorified stress tests and nothing more.

I'm pretty sure it is just a marketing slogan at this point.
