Won't disagree that the test is far from perfect. The whole idea that any leader in a democratic nation might get anywhere near a world famous autocrat like Hitler on the authoritarian axis strikes me as being rather hard to accept.

But consider this: is it possible to create a 'better' test of a similar sort?

My guess is: not really.

Given that, I am led to conclude that: if this effort to use a two-axis paradigm with aggregated scores from multiple question items is inherently problematic for characterizing how political actors compare and contrast, then how can our homogenized one-axis models suffice?

This is stupid. If you have a left and right then you also need an up and down and/or back and forth and maybe some sideways, diagonal and undecideds. "Wrong" and "stupid" should also be possible results for an accurate political test.

I was a authoritarian libertarian.... How does that even work? "yeah dawg do whatever you want man, BUT YOU BETTER TOW THE LINE!"

Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03

In the green libertarian/left corner.

The big problem is that it takes two separate things (social and economic policies) and melds them together, causing someone who may be socially very liberal and economically very conservative to be represented incorrectly.
Indeed.

They've been mentioned and linked. Not necessarily relevant though as there's new people and shifted positions here now.

It's still a really poor quality test. For example, somebody might support freer markets as they believe it will lead to increased wealth and happiness for society, not just because they want corporations to make more money.

Anyways, I remain in the green bottom left square, somewhat close to the centre. It's too hard to resist taking it, no matter how crappy the questions are.

I dislike the test, and since I'm not all that politically minded I didn't understand some of the questions fully, but whatever. Here are my results:

Don't think it's all that different from tests I have taken previously.
